Actually, the wind tonight was hitting the east side of the house....I had to go up and repair a few holes the resident squirrels had made in the walls........Next summer,,,eviction for sure.
I have extra insulation on the north side of house,,R-30 in the walls.
When a storm is coming up from the Texas Panhandle, we expect tonnes of snow...cold from the north and west.and an east wind is just plan miserable.

They kill us, too, Jim. East means a low pressure that will not zip across the plains. And the wet wind then hits our mountain and DUMPS snow or rain on us.
Usually get one in the fall and one or two in the spring. But seldom ANY in the cold months.
BTW, squirrel is good. Tastes alot like cat.

It is a bit chilly out. What is amazing is watching it on the news. The weather is the #1 news story on the national news. There is not one province in Canada that has not come under some kind of weather alert, whether it be windchill, blizzard, heavy snowfall warning, freezing rain, flooding, etc.
But this is Alberta. If you don't like it, wait a day or two (or longer). It'll change. Some of the long range forecasts are saying that the temperatures should rise to freezing point in about five or six days. In actual temperatures that would be from minus 40 to plus 32 F. in one week. Sometimes that happens in one day. I won't complain if it does.

Me? I'm watching the Food Network and typing and about to play a game. Day is about done here.
BTW, it is 16F and climbing. Should be above freezing (send that cold stuff EAST) and all the snow will melt off tomorrow. That is typical here in Wyoming. Snow one day and gone the next.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS EVENING.
PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CONTINUE OVER THE AREA TODAY. AFTER A LULL IN THE SNOW EARLY THIS MORNING. ANOTHER ROUND OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE TOWARD MIDDAY. ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE BEFORE THE SNOW TAPERS OFF TOWARD SUNSET.
IN ADDITION, STRONG NW WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP LATER THIS MORNING. WHICH WILL CAUSE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING & DRIFTING SNOW & LIMITED VISIBLITY.
We already have around 6" of snow on the ground and the winds are going to whip up to 30 mph. It is 21º with a wind chill of 9º right now. It will be unbearable later today!
I think all those flocks of geese I saw flying North last week must have been confused!

Good Morning Dan, Blackbird, and Ed!
I think everyone is anxiously awaiting the arrival of Spring. I know I am!
I bought some seeds to start inside so they will be ready to transplant outside when the danger of frost is over. I thought, by doing that, I might be able to convince myself that Spring is coming soon.
I must go dig my car out...again. Definitely longjohn weather today!

My camellias have been *blooming* for many weeks now & they think
spring
has sprung...but with the temp being a cold-44 today, I say, "NOT!!!" (Winds were atrocious last night).

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
Hubby 'conveniently' forgot to shovel the walk this morning, so I shoveled it before I went to the corner. When I got home, the snowplow had been by and I had to shovel some more!
It is snowing, blowing, sleeting, foggy, and slippery! Cars were moving slowly.
I had to go to the Post Office after work to mail two packages and none of the businesses had their sidewalks or steps shoveled (including the Post Office).
Around here, the business owners do not shovel. If they shovel and someone slips and falls, they can sue the business. If the walks are NOT shoveled and they fall, they cannot sue. It is considered an 'Act of God'.
