I had a defective pair of glasses, Sue. I had gotten them at the eyeglass place at Wal-Mart and they replaced them for me for free.

    KEEP WARM!

I have had 2 pair of Marchon Flexon (memory flex). They bend a little and hop right back into place. I've had my current pair for 3 years.

Thanks for the link Gib. Those are the kind of frames I want to get for Brent.

The frames he has were bought in Wisconsin and he's had them for a couple of years. The screws keep falling out and sometimes the lenses. It's time for a new pair.

Our insurance pays for the exam only, so the cost of the frames and lenses are on us.

Tonight is 'fend for yourself' supper night so I'm gonna go scrounge around in the kitchen and see what I can find...

WOW! Thirteen hours and no one has posted?

Papers were done by 6:00 this morning @ 7ºF.

Brent has a basketball game, at 8:00 this morning, so I will be back a little later.

    Good Afternoon all.

After a lovely night spent enjoying the comforts(not) of our local hospital, Bitsy and I are back home with the assurance that she does not seem to have appendicitis. Or mono, or the flu, or a urinary tract infection. What she does have that keeps causing her stomach to hurt and her fever to spike above 103 degrees, they are not to sure. They think it is viral. (When in doubt blame a virus)

Sue, did you join the Upward cheerleading program? ;)

Walmart has good prices on their eyeglasses. We just ordered Bitsy a pair from there. We can't pick them up until she's better though.

7 degrees huh? To cold for me. My arthritis is hurting just thinking about it. It was pretty cool here today. Only in the upper 40's. Still though nothing like what you are getting. I'm sure I could never get used to those kind of temperatures again. Brrrr.

Going to find out what I've missed.....

I just posted in the Old Codgers Club about arthritis hurting.

Sorry Bitsy feels so bad! Is she on antibiotics to get rid of the infection before her surgery?

    Must be the arthritis season!

No antibiotics. Her tonsils don't come out for another month, so they may give us some befor then.

Till Monday we are just supposed to watch her and try to keep the fever down, then we go back and let the doctor look at her again.

We've seen 3 out of four doctors at our practice this week!

For some reason I was thinking it was Brent who just got glasses for the first time and it's Bitsy, isn't it?

This damp cold weather must be the culprit. Jim has R/A and it's bothering his hip but that's all.

We did a lot of running around this morning. Jim took us to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. It's about 25 mins. from here. I had 2 eggs, grits, bacon and coffee. I didn't eat the biscuits and gravy. They use a lot of pepper in their gravy and I can do without biscuits. I'm going to either have to stop snacking or buy a bigger size jeans. Only one pair will zip and they're all the same size!

Eyeglasses online, who'd a thunk it?

Hope Bitsy gets well soon, she's had a rough time lately.

Diane, did N. Georgia get lots of rain? When we crossed over the Alapaha River just a little bit ago, I noticed it looked higher than is has in a while. (But not as high as when the hurricanes paraded through.

Hi Gayla, not much. It moved through really quickly but was POURING for a short while. We didn't get any tornado watches here either. It's supposed to get down to the high 20's for a few nights. LOL. People freak out when they hear that here. Did you get your heater checked?

Brent came down to Illinois without his glasses. They didn't arrive for two months and when they did, there was a lens missing so we got that for him.

I'm not sure how long he has had these frames, but I think it's time for a new pair. He also could do with an eye exam...

We've been watching movies all day. Left Behind, Left Behind 2, and Rooster Cogburn!

Maybe that's what I was remembering Sue. Since you don't have insurance for the glasses, The Lion's Club will probably help out. That's what they do.

Hope you and Brent can keep warm tomorrow morning. YIKES! That's TOO cold and TOO early!

Our insurance pays for the eye exam, but not for the frames and lenses.

I do the papers by myself on Saturday and Sunday. It is too cold for Brent right now and hubby falls on the ice too easily.

Every Saturday Brent has a basketball game at 8:00 a.m. and on Sunday the papers are too big for him so I just let him sleep in...

It's going to be warmer tomorrow morning. 9º instead of 7º!

How can you do them alone, Sue? Are the houses close together? When I helped the kids, we could walk house to house. The papers had specific places to be put and we'd cut through yards. Back then, the weekend papers could be an hour LATER than the weekday papers. The Sunday papers were quite heavy.

I just get in and out of the car alot!

Papers still have specific places to be put, according to the customers wishes.

Weekday papers are in the afternoon. Saturday and holiday papers must be delivered by 6:00 a.m. and Sunday's by 7:00 a.m.

Can you leave the car running so it stays warm? I remember how frozen my feet would feel even with good snow boots, leg warmers, etc.

Hi everyone. Wow, this place moves so fast if I miss one day I am LOST hehehe.

We are having our winter storm that was promised days ago. We even got a dusting of snow earlier! Oh well, I have 3 days off from work anyway because Monday is a holiday.

I get my glasses at Costco. It's cheeper to go there and not use my Deductible than it is to go to a place that takes them and charges 3 times more for glasses. So, I go cheep. And so far they have been fine.

So, how are youall? I am cold, but not as cold as Sue! I think I will stay here...wet and cold but not frozen <grin>
