Hey, talk about crochet----check this out!!! My wife and I took the kids to see their grandparents this weekend----left Thursday morning and returned Saturday evening!! Anyway--

my wife's brother purchased a good used John Deere tractor---I had to go check it out!! A heavy!! A 1971 JD4030 diesel! He bought it from a farm estate where the farmer had passed away and the family was selling equipment!!

Sure beats crochet needles!!!

blackbird: I would look really funny with a John Deere sitting on my lap! I'd rather crochet!!!

Papers are done and coffee is brewing. I am still thawing out...

Cruising,

Hasn't there been some upgrades since '71? You could have an Allis Chalmers WD45 for less, and double it as an investment in antiques. Did he get a cab with that? AC? WHere does he farm?

Moaning all, not sure what we're doing today. But once we get the church thing over, we'll come up with a plan.

Crochet, something I could never master, though I am a well versed in cross stitching. I also enjoy beading and crafts. Yea, I'm a woman trapped in a man's body.

No way! Look. I used to work with kids in an assessment center and they taught me football and baseball. I needed something to calm them down, so I brought in crafts to keep their hands busy late in the evening. I went out and purchased crochet needles and, three years later, I can still only do one stitch line! I can make a 5mm wide scarf! Thought it would be nice to be able to make something real for a change. I do have a couple of baseball gloves but I also have a sewing machine. Ha Ha! Making bean bags for my job.
Talk to you later.

Good afternoon everyone!

We're having quite a quiet day today. Bitsy's fever is down this morning. She is eating a bit this morning as well. Soooo......

We may run out and pick up her glasses in a little while. We'll pick up a few groceries at the same time. Not our usual Sunday activity, but the kids claim there is nothing to eat in the house.

Have a good day!

I put a ham in the oven this morning and am having twice-baked potatoes with chives and onions. Haven't decided on a veggie yet. I also took a pumpkin pie, out of the freezer, that I baked for Christmas.

See ya later, I'm hungry!

What'd ya'll do in church today???

We had a special time in our service where we recognized a returning soldier from Iraq!! He returned just after Christmas--spent a few days at Fort Benning before returning home!!

Talk about a hero!!!! The SFC was awarded the Bronze medal for achievement in a war zone!! I had he and his wife come stand with me on the church platform as I read his achievement presentation/evaluation given by his commanding officer! Engaged in combat 9 different times! Leader in Iraqi troop apprension and detainment! Leader in 2 engagements on the Fallujah stronghold this past September!!

I'm glad he's home!!

Praise be to God for his safe return, home. Was he able to share the gospel there? I so hope that the people of Iraq are able to regain a reasonable and safe life after all of this is over. I hope that we will be able to bring our troops home soon!

Christianbsw---as this Sergeant came home--our church had another soldier "pack up" for Iraq! He left Camp Shelby, Mississippi, flew to Kuwait and is now in Iraq---his first week there!! Please pray for him---I watched the young fella through high school, graduation and enter college---had the priviledge of baptizing him a year ago---dynamic man of God now serving in the US Army!

Goodness Gracious y'all have been chatty since I shut down last night!

Christianbsw, why can't you eat those foods? Welcome, by the way. Don't let Gib get you going. Us Southener's like to tease.

So I used to crochet and still can croquet but never could develop a taste for salmon crocket.

Jim and I are filling in for another teacher tonight instead of helping with Nick's class. We'll have 1st and 2nd graders tonight. We had 18 four year olds for Sunday School. We had so many toddlers that we're really trying to figure out what to do. We need two rooms for them. May have to move the 2 year olds to the 3 year old room, the 3's to the 4's and the 4's to the 5's EXCEPT the 4 year old room is the largest and we have the most on role and in attendance. We've got some empty S/S rooms but not in the preschool area!

Hope this football game is over before 4:30 so I don't have to drag my boys out the door!!

Good Morning,
How is everyone today?

We are still waiting for our snow. Got some rain, but not much. The mountains should be covered in snow, but there are too many bald spots.

I am pretty rough on my glasses, too. I try to spend as little time as possible in them, so they are off and on all day long. I only need them for long distance, I don't do many things too far away hehehe.

Sue - yikes - no Walmart with Glasses? Wow, where do you live <grin>

Carolyn, I almost never wear my glasses. One lens is for my cataract and with them, I still can't see. The other side is for reading and I have to look down through it. Too much trouble! I wear them to drive when I'll be out past dusk or if it's very overcast. Hey, I'm too young for granny glasses. LOLOL

Oh, how I miss the days when we saw him on tv! That coon skin cap and that long cap gun! Them was the days.
I guess Dallas doesn't meet with the southern "thang." Ya'll should know that when you are ready to have me over, I love grits, biscuits 'n gravy, and greens. Just thought I would give you the ups.

Are you going for cataract surgery? My mother had it fairly recently. It did help, though not as much as she had hoped. I have heard that the new lazer corrective service also helps with cataracts, though I can't imagine how. I've met people with cornea transplants and that can be a good thing for those who qualify.

Christianbsw---Diane doesn't qualify for cadarac stuff---she's under the legal height!!!

Besides, she and others on the board have turned down Doctor Blackbird's offers for assistance time after time after time---he ain't gonna beg no more----folks wanna walk around with cadaracks in their eyes, that's their business!!! Blackbird will operate only on people who "care!"

My receptionist will be calling you in a moment!!!

I guess when you're dialing a long distant number, you must hold the phone farther away.

Carolyn: Our Wal-Mart has reading glasses, but it doesn't have an optical department or optometrist. We don't have a super store (I have heard rumors we're getting one) but who knows?!? Our town is only 16,000 people and I think that includes the two prisons.

Christian: I'll make the grits and biscuits/gravy but you won't get any 'greens' in this neck of the woods.

I could settle on spinach or tomatoes. Any chance there? I'll bring a pound cake with lemon icing and raspberrie sauce.
