I just need to add that I do not discount the premillennial position. It was held by some in the early church, along with the amillennial. What I do disavow is the dispensational version of that, as it was a system created by John Nelson Darby in the 19th century and dishonors Jesus by making national Israel the focal point of history and regarding the church as a mere parenthesis.

The early church held to a premil view for a relatively short period of time because they thought the Lord would return in their lifetime. Eschatology was not an important consideration during the patrisric age; at least not as important as the gospel itself.

Historic Premillennial - Catching up of the saints (rapture/resurrection of the righteous) is at the and of the age/dispensation at the visible physical return of Jesus; followed by a literal 1000 year reign. No "tribulation" period, certainly not some 7 year period of "great tribulation."
Personally I'm iffy on the "one person AntiChrist" idea, it's possible but I'm not sure.

I am not sure of these statistics. I know quite a few dispensationalist pastors and seminary professors who think Christian Zionism is plain wrong and dangerous.
I already granted you that dispensationalism, as a system, can go that route; I just happen to believe it is a small fraction of dispensationalists who buy into it.
But time will tell whether it grows like kudzu across the dispensationalist landscape.

It's no small fraction and it has grown like kudzu already and it has dominated U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East:
The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy
The Rise of the Religious Right in the Republican Party
There is NOTHING benign or inconsequential about what dispensationalism on the whole has morphed into.
