Kids can't wash dishes, make their beds, clean their room, do their own laundry?

There is already an obesity problem with youngsters and its going to get worse.

Great...now I can't help my great grandpa in the garden...oh wait, I'm 19. And I help him in the garden because I like to help him. not because he ask or forces me to.

My say to Obama," at the most, restrict the ability to work on rural farms while under 18 years of age to the discretion of the child who is able to decide for themselves. At least? Back off, you're not responsible for every little facet of life."

Just mandating the Democratic Party's work ethic on kids who know better.

 

Guess who will be working the farms? Illegal immigrants?

 

This was a UN mandate and was actually proposed late last year and only now getting press. I heard that as of yesterday they have now reversed this at least for the rest of this term because of the outcry.

 

The real problem is the failure of this administration to use a modicum of common sense and check with people familiar with family farming operations before enacting this new rule.

The reason is simple...in their hearts , they really believe that they can run your life better than you can.

So why ask anyone affected by the law? They're just stupid farmers , after all.:BangHead:

 

This legislation should please BB members.

The economic/social/political result would be to bankrupt family farms and transfer profits and power to international agricultural monopolies - Republican policy and intent. ***< edited LE> the working class.

 

But why would you think that would please BB members?

 

Because most all of you seem to support "Big Everything" over working class people.

 

Honestly, sometimes I think you let your backside do your talking. Must come from years of union-negotiated sitting on the brain.

 

Already there. When we had our wonderful investigation from children's services, part of their questionnaire includes what chores children are required to do.

Anything for kids under 15 that goes beyond picking up their toys and keeping their own room cleaned up, such as dishes, vacuuming, or other "common areas" of the home or yard are charted at a higher number, raising the way they figure the possibility/probability of abuse.

Higher numbers are bad.

For example, say you have a child that is 8 years old and home schooled. They consider that child unable to get out in public and not old enough to understand abuse properly, so whether the child is abused or not, they may automatically score the risk level as a 7 (score of 0-10), then when you factor in that they may have marked a high number on the chore factor, the overall number is raised.

Now say that you have a child who is bent on going and touching the wood stove. To teach the child no to do that, you slap his/her hand and say no. One of your older children tells this to the social worker. You have now struck your child/used corporal punishment, so you receive a 10.

So simply because they do chores, are under a certain age, and you prevent your child from burning yourself, you may already be scored at 26 simply based on those three questions, but then there are more questions.

Were YOU, the parent, ever abused? If so, the number goes even higher.

Now you have red flags all over the place and you're being looked at as being someone who is at a pretty high risk for abusing a child.

Family business? Yeah right. Don't even try it. It always gets me how massive global corporations can get away with sweat shop products all over, but then a fit is thrown over chocolate produced in places where it is the culture for whole families to work together, but we stick our now screwed-up American values on them and say "oh no, this is horrible and we must force smaller companies to quit buying from them!" and then a whole village get plunged into despair and further poverty and now those same kids aren't eating, but that's better than working in the family business, right?

People can be so stupid with this stuff.

Then to boot, they turn 18 and magically are supposed to turn into strong, responsible citizens who are capable of standing on their own two feet and supporting themselves. We see how well THAT is working out...and only getting worse.
