You could say - give them life with no possiblity of parole -

Well, two murderers in NY were given that sentence - and they are now out- by escaping - and the manhunt is costing NY State about one million dollars a day.

In addition, since they have no funds, officials are concerned they will committ more crimes - robbery, ect to obtain money to eat and for other needs.

Jesus doesn't teach it, and I thought we were supposed to be followers of Jesus, not putting ourselves in God's place.

Your are correct, but on the other hand - Jesus did not forbid it either.

If you serve on a jury -even for a minor misdemeanor - you are judging the individal and in essencse pronoucning a sentence on him. - Is that not the same as putting yourself in God's place

No. It is not deciding on whether or not someone lives or dies.

The individual gave up the right to his life when he took the life of another.

That is God's territory to decide, not man's. But then man has been trying to put himself in God's place ever since the Garden.

When Peter confronted Jesus, saying he was not going to be crucified, as He had been telling them, Jesus called him Satan and said he "sees this through the eyes of man, not the eyes of God." Is "God's place" judging him to 'life without parole,' making escape possible, as we have seen recently?

As for the death penalty, it's part of the Noahic Covenant. What other parts thereof are not valid?

Did God decide it here or not? And then, is he fickle or not?

I disagree brother ... God deals with the eternal life and death of His created souls. In life He always had man carry out death and destruction of those opposed to His chosen people. Why did He tell us eye an for an eye?

I believe He left judgement of our fellow humans up to us.

    [Previous post left the scriptural quote}

Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man
    [Genesis 9:6].

Did God decide it here or not? And then, is he fickle or not?

Seems like a lot of you believe we should still be going by the Old Covenant rather than the New on this issue. Maybe the words of Jesus don't take precedence over the Old Covenant to you.

So, do you go by the Old Covenant in other areas, too? Stoned anyone lately?

Sorry for the brashness. I just wonder sometimes if people really know what it means to be a follower of Jesus and how radical that truly is.

Does it mean going into a temple, knocking over tables with money and animals, and chasing crooks out with a whip?

Which has always been my point. How dare we who are worthy of the death penalty from God be calling for someone else's death because of a committed sin. when He pardoned us.

Something about it speaks to why folks call us hypocrites.

Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him. 1 John 3:15

I wonder how many of you loving Christians who have murdered a Brother or Sister in your heart is ready for your blood to be shed?

HOW ARE YOU FEELING .... after all your words have, likewise, killed others on the board? That is what the Bible calls, hypocrisy. It also tells the hypocrite to be silenced! :type:

I'm feeling really well. And if the hypocrite is to be silenced, you need to go sit in a corner somewhere and stop typing.
