Once again, Easter season is upon us!
"Here Comes Peter Cottontail,
Hopping down the Bunny trail...
TRIPPIN' OUT ON CRACK!"
But is GOD behind it? DEFINITELY NOT!
LET'S LOOK AT SOME COMPONENTS OF THE EASTER SEASON.
Ash Wednesday-It has PAGAN roots, coming from a Roman rite which they obtained from Vedic India. Ashes were said to be a symbol of the purifying blood of the god Shiva, which washed away sins. Mardi Gras is the day of excesses before the austerity of Ash Wednesday & Lent.
In fact, the whole Lent/Ash Wednesday/Mardi Gras/ Maundy Thursday/Easter thingie is assembled from various PAGAN sources, interspersed with Biblical truths to attempt to make it appear authentic to gullible Christians. Lent comes from the ancient rite of the springtime revival of Tammuz. Maundy Thursday comes from a Celtic spring rite of 3 days' duration. It was mixed into Anglo-Saxon rites after they invaded the Celtic lands & were in turn invaded by the Vikings who gave Thursday the name we use (Thor's day) & later added to the Lent observance.
Easter itself- In the 300s AD, Constantine's missionaries to the Germans worked the story of Jesus' resurrection into the Germans' spring rite of Ostern, dedicated to their goddess Ostara & the arrival of spring, to create Easter. The Germans' rite included an egg-laying bunny, hot-cross buns, new bonnets for the women, new clother for the men, & treats for the kiddies. The Roman Catholic Church put the whole pagan mess of various rites & observances together to form this "season".
Thus, the whole RCC version of Easter season is one big blort of pagan rites from various sources that have been brought together into one "season", with Biblical material worked in to make it seem legitimate. Take away the Biblical truths & it's all phony, pagan, & false, assembled from Indian, Roman, Babylonian, Celtic, & Teutonic/Germanic paganism. It follows the pattern & PAGAN SOURCES of many other RCC rites, ceremonies, customs, & observances, from all sortsa sources except GOD'S WORD.
Nothing wrong with observing, celebrating & praising CHRIST'S RESURRECTION, of course, but all the other jive should be avoided!
Here Comes Peter Cottontail...

If it looks like kids just hunting for candy, and it smells like kids just hunting for candy, then it's just kids hunting for candy.

I say if you are in your right to celebrate or not celebrate the Easter tradition.
oh and HAPPY EASTER! GOD LOVES YOU (whether or not I do) j/k -
ooops I must be a pagan...
Did Ash Wed.. in the middle of Lent... doing Maundy Thursday with a Tene Brae service.. and then Sunrise Service on Easter, (Breakfast to make us Baptist) and then a special service ...
But can't wait until Advent!
uh oh.. .that is trouble too... hehehe -
Here we go again with the pagan stuff. My Easter egg hunting isn't pagan. But, if it bugs your Chrisitian sensibilities, by all means, don't hide an egg and but please don't ruin mine with this none sense.

Show me a 6 year old that actually knows the pagan roots of Easter !!!!!! Or even Halloween and the fact the Christmas replaced the pagan solstice celebration. Not a one, every child in a Christian home associate Easter with the Resurrection and Christmas with the birth of Christ. Halloween is a little sketchy for other reasons and depends on the parents but in the end its just "trick or treat" and nothing more.
Its old meaning has been erased/succeeded by the non religious modern holidays of Easter ( For Christians its religious though for the Resurrection) and Halloween . Solstice?!?!?? Ask someone why we celebrate Christmas as see how many answer with that one.
Those who go to church know what we really celebrate anyhow. Then you take the kids on the church Easter egg hunt after the service
Actually I was an adult before I even thought that these replaced old pagan celebrations. Well I knew about halloween. -

I'm not Catholic, could you please define the "rites" as I didn't know there were any. -

My personal belief is that the pagans stole Passover from the Israelites and injected their paganism into Passover. Just as in everything God does, Satan tries to come up with a conterfeit. The Easter (Resurrection Sunday) dates for Christians are always based on the times of the Passover. That's why Easter Sunday is a different time every years - last year it was in March, this year in April - it is always based on Jewish Passover.
Other than that, the only comment I care to make is don't feed your kids jelly beans from Mexico - read package labels - nearly all jelly beans are made there now, even ones with American names like Brachs and Brocks. Mexico has 80% unsafe drinking water and our State Department warns travelers there not to drink the water. So why would jelly beans made with Mexican water be safe?
Okay, my rant is over.
Happy Passover and Happy Resurrection Day.
I love you Roby. :love2: -

The Pagans do not observe Spring Equinox whenever we have Easter - they observe it at the time of the Spring Equinox, usually March 21 or therabouts. -
Rabbits taste good if they are cooked correctly, eggs too!

Someone refresh my random access memory: Was not the setting of the date for Easter a primary task of a Church(?) council many centuries ago? Also the KJV translators wrongly used Easter instead of Passover for pashcal feast.
Seems a little leaven does leaven the whole lump.
Exceptions: if one uses kosher bunnies, blessed with holy water, it should be acceptable. If the traditions are practiced long enough they become doctrines.
Galatians 4:9-11, "But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? YE OBSERVE DAYS, AND MONTHS, AND TIMES AND YEARS. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain." These folk(churches in Galatia) were already following another gospel or two--see Gal. 1:6-12.
In vain we do worship, teaching for the doctrines the commandments of men.
Selah,

If the origins of various celebrations bothers you then stop using the days of the week. Certainly do not buy gas for your car because the profit from much of it supports Muslims. Do not ever buy milk because most of it comes from cows owned by non-Christians.

Thank you Robycop3! So many people have looked at my husband and I funny or lectured us because we choose not to celebrate "Religious holidays" how they deem that we should. Christmas with Santa teaches savation by works. Easter with the easter bunny and eggs, what in the world??? God has shone so much light on the celebrating of pagean holidays with us. Truely thank you Robycop3 for reconfirming that we are not crazy or the only ones out there that want our children to have the truth.
