Holder Announces Federal Probe of Ferguson Police Department
The Justice Department announced Thursday that it is opening a federal investigation into the Ferguson, Mo., police department in the wake of the Michael Brown shooting.
“In meetings as well as in listening sessions as well as informal conversations, people consistently express concerns stemming from specific alleged incidents, from general policing practices, and from the lack of diversity on the Ferguson police force,” said Holder. “These anecdotal accounts underscore the history of mistrust of law enforcement in Ferguson that has received a good deal of attention.
“As a result of this history and following an extensive review of documented allegations and other available data, we have determined that there is cause for the Justice Department to open an investigation to determine whether Ferguson police officials have engaged in a pattern or practice of violations of the United States Constitution or federal law,” he added.
The question is, considering Holder's public indication that he is racially biased, can he lead an impartial investigation with the team of U.S. Attorneys he has assembled in Missouri?
It's the same team that a federal judge has accused of grotesque prosecutorial misconduct in another botched civil rights case.
There is no probe of the New Black Panthers.
Holder dismissed that one years ago, stating that blacks simply could not be guilty of any civil rights violations.
Isn't this the same thing asked about St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch and hi
having has deep ties to the police and having favored law enforcement in criminal cases repeatedly?
Is there a bias there?
And why in a city that is nearly 70% Black is the
grand jury made up of 9 Whites, and 3 Blacks, reflecting the makeup of the larger county?
Why would anyone who isn't trying to make race an issue place 9 as opposed to 8 white people on the grand jury when it takes 3/4 or 9 to move forward with charges or to stop charges?
With 9 white jurors on the grand jury, if they don't press charges, yall know that the folks in the community are going to reiterate what they had said before about not having a chance in Ferguson because of the makeup of the police force.
Now turn around and give a deciding number to the same majority that they don't feel equally represent their interests?
If that's clear from what I said, then I guess it must be equally
clear that you don't believe that McCulloch and the grand jury should approach this and all cases in a non-biased professional manner.
Then it must be equally evident that you want the case decided purely by race.
I asked why there weren't 8 instead of 9 white people because it doesn't need to look like the case is being decided by race.
Pure foolishness. They said the same thing that you said, yet they are the only ones blinded by racial bigotry. Ain't that something?
There is absolutely no evidence that YOU WILL ACCEPT as evidence that the grand jury is racially biased. The folks in the city of Ferguson have already presented their evidence for why they believe the grand jury to be racially biased. And they asked that the reason be removed from the case.
And they have said the same thing about McCulloch.
