I just had to take a break from my retirement and share this. Last week after the election of the gay bishop I put this message on my church sign.
Homosexuality is sin, God said it that settles it.
Tuesday night someone threw a lamp at my sign breaking the glass and scattering the letters. The Sheriff said it was apparently someone who was angry at the message (duh) I have already replaced the message and on the other side I added this
We forgive the one who broke our sign and God will forgive all who ask Him.
I have not replaced the plexiglass yet, I think I will wait and see what happens for a few days. I have always heard that the conservatives were the ones who bash the gays but apparently we have some gays who bash.

I am so sorry to hear that. I remember a time not long ago, all the churches left their doors unlocked always so people could go in and pray anytime. People have become so fierce. I also remember when you could voice your opinion and stay respectable too. Evil men just get more evil and the righteous will become more righteous. :(
I love the part where you said:
"We forgive the one who broke our sign and God will forgive all who ask Him."
God bless you. -

It could have been a teen vandal or someone who wanted you to assume a "gay" person did it -- remember those cases where some militant minority folks claimed that crosses were burned in their yards or swastikas were painted on their businesses and then it was later discovered that they did it themselves for attention/sympathy/political agenda? Remember the Tawana Brawley hoax?
It may well have been a "gay" person or someone who affirms homosexual relations, but unless you have caught the vandal, you are making an assumption. -

The only way to avoid conflict, is to never say anything.

He said that "apparently we have some gays who bash". It's not "apparent" unless you assume that the person who performed the vandalism is "gay". -
So, we can safely assume that somebody broke the sign, can we not?

This isn't a Benny Hinn prophecy or that sort but--
I believe there is coming a day when the best sermon that I (or any other God fearing pastor) can preach on the Love of the Lord Jesus Christ--will appear as if it were HATE in the ears of wicked society.
The sin of homosexuality is so imitive of the devil that when love opposes it--the sin manifests itself in some sort of physical ungodly revenge against the preachers and teachers of the love of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Your friend,

I concur Brother Blackbird, I concur!

Who did it and the motivation behind the act cannot be safely assumed. -
"Homosexuality is still a sin, but we're all sinners, and God loves us anyway." -

"Homosexuality is still a sin, but we're all sinners, and God loves us anyway." </font>[/QUOTE]It doesn't sound confrontational to me. But then I knew I was a sinner when I was told. Maybe that was before people had such an aversion to hearing the truth. -

Besides, God loves all sinners, repentant or not. Considering that most of us have sins we haven't yet repented of, we should count ourselves as fortunate. -
John, I think what the issue here is that God loves sinners. Yet we know from the Bible that He hates sin! So in order to enjoy the love of God we must separate ourselves from sin, and that means repentance. If we repent of our sins, God is faithful and just, and He forgives our sins. We also know that He casts our sins behind Him, and He spreads them as far as the East is from the Went (they actually never meet). But the key to God's love is a repentant heart - and indeed Timotheus' statement was correct.
-
Biblically, so is mine. Is it possible that both Timotheus and I are correct? :D
-
Not a chance!

I don't see anything tenderhearted, kind or gentle in a sign like that. Truthful? Yes. Loving? Not really.
It is us (the church) that should be held to a "perfect" standard and scrutinized to the Nth degree. Not the lost sinner.
Dave.
