So apparently there is this "drive" to have homosexual couples mark themselves as "married" on the census whether they are or not. The census says that people should put down whatever they self-identify with - in other words even the government is saying to fill in whatever you feel like.
So what good is that?
Oh, and on another board this came up and I was brave enough to say that people are being encouraged to lie and now I'm a hate filled homophobe who is holier than thou. :tonofbricks:
Homosexuals are being encouraged to lie on the census

Unfortunately, these days when you take a stand on anything, you are "hate-filled" but it's always better to take a stand on biblical principles.
-
Can single people identify themselves as married when they file taxes? You could get a nice refund.
-
To not file census $100 fine.
To fraudently file census with fraudulant answers.....$5000 penalty. -
Well, I would play stupid and say that I believed the government allowed me to "self-identify" myself anyway I wished. If I wanted to identify myself as married on the census even though I was not married, I thought I could do the same on my taxes.
This is actually a form of argument in law known as "ambiguous language". It holds that the person who writes a contract is more accountable in cases of misunderstanding because they wrote the contract.
For example, let's say you have a flood and try to make a homeowner's claim. They tell you you are not covered but needed a separate flood policy. You could argue your home owner's policy covered "water damage" which you believed to mean would cover a flood. Your chances are actually excellent you would win this argument and be paid by the insurance company because they wrote the policy unilaterally and are therefore responsible for any ambiguous language in the policy.
You think I am making this up, but I am not. Here is an article on the subject.

Now, I'm being silly here, the census and taxes are not contracts, and they are separate documents, but that is the argument I would make, and if I got the right judge I might win. -

Keep the Faith...
I can readily relate to what you are being hit with. I write articles on gather.com, and I have my own gather site: Operation: Jesus. You should read the hateful responses I get for posting my heart felt thoughts, and the Word according to my understanding of the Gospel message.
You hang in there, because you know that Jesus said that we'd be mocked and judged. If that is happening, you must be doing something right.
As for the Census... I can see how they slanted the questions to get what they wanted from the numbers. It is the same-old government attempt to"spin" the results to favor the programs and direction in which they want to move this country and the American society over the next 10 years.

Here is a site that shows the 10 questions asked, I did not see the question concerning married or single, maybe I missed it. Put your cursor on 1-10 to see the questions.

Right Bitsy. That's the part that they are saying to put down "husband or wife" which means that they are married instead of putting down "unmarried partner" which is what they are. Oh the anger and hatred toward me - it's amazing. I walked away from the thread because I see it as black and white - you are married and answer "husband or wife" or are not and put down "unmarried partner". Apparently that's spewing hate and a holier than thou attitude. :BangHead:

when you take a stand on scripture and people hate you, it isn't you they ultimatly hate it's God they untimately hate becasue it's His true written word they hate hearing.
If these people aren't legally married then they ahve broken the law of telling the truth on the census, but no one will ever do anything about homosexuals breaking laws like this. -
Edit- Sorry, I just went back again and read your OP and saw that the attacks are on another Forum. Sorry 'bout that Chief! -
I knew I could post here safely because I think this would be one thing that most of us would agree with - lying is lying. -
Really, this is what your concerned about? OK, just seems like there are bigger fish to fry then what information someone puts on a census form. Besides how many people is all that really matters, the other info is to give something for the bean counters to do.

Jesus taught that the sex act was equivalent to marriage so how would you have an unmarried male and female who are shacking up respond to the question?
How should a "real" Mormon list his 2nd wife? -
