There you go, Brother Bob. You have a chance to make a convert!

I probably wasn't clear enough, sorry. This lady mentioned she is getting into leadership in the church, this is a non-denominational church. She is new to the area. I felt there could be ONE justifiable reason that an anonymous letter could be sent, and it is for personal safety. I included my email address in the letter so if this lady happened to be going around threatening church members, or it occurs in the future, then I might expect the Pastor to reply. Otherwise, I see no need. Labeling never occured to me as a reason not to sign it, I just wanted to preserve my safety.

Brother Bob wanna come to our house for dinner tonight?? :D
-
Glad someone likes to read what I post. There are time for a anonymous letter but mostly for prayer like I posted you have a kid on drugs etc and don't want no one to know but want prayer.
-
It a little far away. I was going to invite you to church but seen where you live and doubt if you would make the drive.
-
I'll have to go tell hubby Brother Bob invited us to church Thanks!
-
Maybe he will convert.
-
Yes maybe he will
Try saying something profound..... :D
No, I think he prefers what you are already doing! I better go make dinner now -
The topic of this thread is "handling anonymous letters in one's church."
Anonymous letters can smear a person's name can't they? And quite often everyone will know who that person is if enough detail is given. Now with our global society it doesn't take much work to find out who you are talking about if one knows some basic information about you, your church, your location. That is about all one needs--information probably already provided elsewhere. People are rather good at investigations.
Yes, it is easy to smear a person without mentioning their name, and it is easy to destroy their reputation at the same time.
One of the worst sins to engage in is gossip.
Matthew 12:36-37 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
One doesn't need to mention names in order to smear another's reputation, or to engage in gossip.

Oh give me a break, it is an example. I was counseling this person, not everyone i counsel goes to my church. you do not have a church name (neither do I) you do not have a Pastors name (i forgot it) you do not even have a location. YOU HAVE NOTHING!
Plus Carolina wasn't told she was gossiping and her story was worse than mine.
This is the exact reason people write anonymous letters because of accusations like this!
Get the picture?
and thanks you all for the good examples of what happens and how people are treated unfair. you can't take the message and truth for what is, instead you all slam the messenger and call it gossip. SEE!

You all need to stop before you worsen your case, cause all you are doing is proving mine.

Proverbs 15:32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.
-
I know when and who to take instructions from. you wouldn't take them from a five year old would you?
-
Why is it that in almost every thread that I read containing your posts you seem to have the need to be proven right (or to prove yourself right), and you make a point of saying, "See I'm right"? Just curious. -

I thought the attacks were good examples and were extremely relevent to the topic. don't you think, it really did prove my point. actually they are better than my example i got slammed for. maybe it would be best to close this thread too since people can't seem to leave me alone

Are you a church volunteer counselor or is it your profession? Becasue this is a serious violation of trust to be telling anyone anything about anyone else you counsel.
Not very ethical is it?
