First, this issue is not worth discussing because no one has made an issue of it except those who are misrepresenting what someone stated. As far as I recall, no one said that the first commandment did not apply to Christ.
Second, it simply means that it was not the person of Jesus Christ the Son who was speaking in Exodus 20:3, it was the person of God the Father. To read any more into it than that or to arrive at any other conclusion is erroneous.
Amen, Pastor_Bob!
And from what I read in Dale's Is This Fair thread, that point is exactly what sfiC said.
I reckon you and I will be called Modalist's now.
What about you, Diggin? What are your views?
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me."
Was the command referring only to Jehovah?
Did the command include Jesus Christ as well as Jehovah?
How/why folks separate the Deity I do not know. All of the commandments as it respects the honor due to God the Father apply to Jesus, including the 1st commandment.
Methinks some may want to justify their images of Christ.
God is a TRIUNE God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are not separate Gods or gods. The THREE are ONE. Jesus said, "I and my Father are one." and "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father." They cannot be separated and one made more important than the other. Nor is one supreme over the others. The three "Persons" of God simply have different functions, but they still remain as ONE God, ONE LORD.
Who does LORD refer to if not God the Father?
Who is David speaking about when he says "LORD" and "Lord" in Psalm 110:1?
I have always been taught that "LORD" referred to the Father?
If it is not, please explain why not.
I've put this question to him at least three times and he won't answer.
Me thinks he's afraid he will receive the same treatment from the admin or mod who banned SFIC.
From what I read in the threads, at least two of the moderators feel sfiC was banned injustly... there may be more than that that have not spoke up for some reason or another.
We have an admin who has an itchy trigger finger who banned him because of supposed heresy that was never taught by sfiC.
As Pastor_Bob stated, many are misrepresenting sfiC and his stance.
I pray God brings those who accuse falsely to recant those false accusations.
If you are clear in your answers there should be no problem. When one is vague, that is where problems arise. For then people make assumptions about your doctrine, which may not be true.
Secondly, if you look carefully under sfic's name you will note that the word "banned" is no longer there.
