Is it just me, or has the use of cuss words (actual or implied) gotten out of hand? As in, they shouldn't be used at all on the board, but are being used? I just read in a thread where a poster used the phrase, "How in hell...". Another post a while back, someone responded to a post with, "This is pure B.S."
To avoid what may be seen as a hypocrisy, I have posted before that I reject the idea of words being "good" or "bad" based on societies perceptions. But here, in a Christian forum, I'd think we'd be able to communicate with less offensive words. Plus, cussing is just the attempt of a feeble mind to express itself.
Language use on the board

I've seen it and have wondered the same thing.

It has been getting worse. I don't understand poor language (or poor grammar for that matter.) Perhaps posts like this will help right the ship. Thanks!

Good Luck - You are correct, though!
One of the reasons I was Infracted was because I called another member a sm#%& a#$, and questioned his salvation. Today, we see much worse, and even though I've complained and asked for the infraction to be removed in light of what is going on TODAY on this board, I have been denied. I see it as a contradiction, but, hey, what are you going to do? I love the board and many of the members, so, I put up with the trash talking, and try to stay clear, as much as I can!
So, I say, you are correct. A few years ago, I was drawn into the trap of resorting to calling another member a name I regret, but not for asking how he could claim to be a Christian with the way he badgered and attacked me!
I do not know why the rules have loosened up, but the direction of this board's adherence to the rules regarding fighting and language seems to reflect the direction of this nation.
When the nation is willing to forgo following and applying laws that concern how people become citizens...it should not surprise you that no one on the board is doing anything about the decline in enforcing stated policy, and rules meant to govern this board!
It is a sad state of affairs...:tear: -

Moderators cannot always "catch" the culprit using slang while reading through threads and must depend upon individual readers-----please do your best to report slang/curse words----no excuse for using curse words

"how about using the word (fill in the blank)"
If in doubt - do without -

Everyone has a different view of how much "salt" to put on a steak or potatoes
Col 4:6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person
We do not allow a person to use God's name in vain. But there are hundreds (thousands) of crude, vulgar, cuss words that most feel inappropriate for genteel society or Christians in general. Everyone on the BB will have a different definition or line where we think "God approves X but disapproves Y"
My caution: try to err on the side of the most conservative style of conversation. Try to look beyond your own frame of reference (where such words don't even cause a blip on your radar) and consider the WEAKER brethren who may be offended.
As much as possible, do not cause one of these weaker brethren to stumble by flippant use of slang, minced oaths, cussing, etc.
(BTW, using pejoratives like "Jets fan" or "Democrat" or "old codger" may be going too far in this matter) ;) -

I'm just glad I don't have to listen to some of the accents you Yankees have.

Apparently cursing on this board is subjective to the powers that be. No real standard that everyone can rely on. So if you are going to do it whether or not you get hit for it depends on the mood of the mods that day. About like everything else. Good luck

I try not to use words I can't find in the KJV.
I believe there is a time to tear down. -
