Ever wonder why so many road blocks are found along the way to thinking the Bible was right, freedom is better than slavery?
For example, removing monuments to those who advocated slavery is a step forward. But the defacing and pulling down of monuments lawlessly completely undercuts the effort.

Rather than destroying such monuments, perhaps move them to a site where historical information about slavery and the Confederacy can be accessed by those who choose to visit. Kind of like the Holocaust museums and memorials. Should Auschwitz be demolished because of the horrors that took place there, or left as is so we never forget those horrors?

Of course not! But the Auschwitz reminders do not suggest the place had a good side. We can have plenty of monuments of the civil war, depicting the chains, scares and horrific circumstances. OTOH, these monuments put up by the Jim Crow folks honoring the advocates of slavery are a stain on American culture. But their removal must be by the consent of governed according to law.

A few different options have been put forward as replacements, including the following:
    • Definitely Not From The South Baptist Convention
    • The Northern Baptist Convention
    • The Baptist Convention Formally Known As Southern
    • The Baptist Chicks
    • The Yankee Baptist Convention
    • Potlucks & Welch's
At publishing time, sources confirmed the SBC would also be removing "Baptist" from the name, shortening its title to just "Convention."

    UPDATE
Replacement flag was approved by Mississippi voters Nov. 3.

The new state flag has a floral design:

    Mississippi’s New State Flag

The central magnolia blossom "was illustrated by a Chinese-American web designer named Sue Anna Joe, currently based in San Francisco"

Why did Mississippi change its flag in the first place?

What was wrong with the original one?

From an article I saw, the state did not have a flag at the time of secession. The first flag and even the second flag did not have the battle flag. The third flag from the 1890's introduced the battle flag emblem as part of the flag.
