"The same thing was once said of Jews and Catholics as judges. It sounds equally ridiculous when said here"
Johnv, I think they may have a point here, when they say "true" muslim. If our system is truly based on Judo/Christian principals like we think it is. Than a Musulim of the veriety they are describing, might be like oil and water being mixed. But I don't think as Amercicans we can limit the relgions that are allowed to be on the supreme court. But we can have our opinions.

Our judicial system is not based on judeo/christian principles, it's based on the constitution, and the constitution alone (There can be an agruement made for laws themselves being based on judeo/christian principles, but that's a different topic entirely).
If we are consistent in applying the litmust of "true" faith, then can a "true" Christian be a judge? No, because Christianity does not permit sin. By that same litmus, a true Christian can't be a police officer either if it requires one to arrest an abortion protester, protect an abortion doctor, or protect pornographers, idolaters, or fornicators.
And Jews and Hindus couldn't be judges because they deny Christ.
Of course, that's all by the strict "true faith" litmus, which I don't subscribe to. -
"There can be an agruement made for laws themselves being based on judeo/christian principles"
Well that was what I was saying. But not just the laws our whole governmetnal system. -
"In fact, the last time I heard of this happenning, it was with a Christian judge named Moore..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Although he wanted to desplay the 10 commandments and acknowledge God. I never heared of a case where he inserted personal beliefs into a case, have you?
And don't be so nieve. One of my fellow medical professionals, who was muslim, would not involve himslef in the treatment of AIDs patients, because 95 plus percent of people who get it have engaged in receptive anal intercourse, and he, as a muslim, considered it a grevious sin. He stated, "they were animales". This idea that christians are the only ones who can be biased and judgementanl is itself biased. -
A Muslim should never serve in any position in American Government. To be a Muslim is to embrace the Muslim religion which is opposed to the Judeo Christian principals that have so graced our nation. Absolutely no faith in an impartial viewpoint could be expected. Ever.

I wondered the same thing LE. -
Johnv
The Koran/Quran in the Islamic religion is the literal word of their god which was revealed to Muhammad by the angel Jibril. Not sure why you claim Bunyon is incorrect. It would seem that you are incorrect. And to claim the Islamic religion is not from “anyone” meaning satan is illogical.
When I consider those on the far left I have to admit that I regard the mentally disturbed liberals as a worse threat to our country than the Muslims I just described. Now if it were between an extreme liberal and a terrorist Muslim…at least the terrorist will be upfront about his/her true intent.

Many liberals are upfront about their true intent. Many conservatives just don't believe them.
Wow that was easy...two sentence response when I probably could have typed six or seven. You got the readers digest version answer tonight Enoch. -

Moses on the rear facade of the U.S. Supreme Court holding the 10 Commandments!

Other Judeo-Christian pics on US government buildings - including The Ten Commandments in the floor of the National Archives - NOT the Quran!!

LadyEagle,
You are awsome. Why didn't I think of such a perfect way to make a point. Stunning. Seeing someone weild the sword of truth like you do is better than Prozac. Moses and the ten commandment occupy the preemenant posisition.

Anybody else notice that those tablets Mozes is holding are empty?
-
"Anybody else notice that those tablets Mozes is holding are empty?"
AND the supreme court acts like they are empty also -
-
By the way there is a large frieze of Mohammed as a lawgiver inside the US supreme court building as well.

So according to the artwork it's perfectly o.k. to have a Moslim SCOTUS judge. -

</font>[/QUOTE]Johnv is correct. I don't quite understand why you think our laws are based on artwork adorning the back of the Supreme Court rather than on our Constitution. Less than half of the 10 Commandments are enforceable as law, while all of the Constitution is.
Moses is on the rear facade, but he is not alone. Confucius and Salon are up there with him. Do you think our laws are based on Confucius as well as those of Moses and Salon? Not to mention those of Mohammed (thanks to Mioque for pointing that out)? -
I think the laws are derived from many civilizations, but I pointed out that Moses and the ten commandmants, always hold the preemenet posisitions in the artwork, just as they do in our founding and history. Did you know that the supreme court once ruled (an official ruleing) that we are a Christian nation? Not only that you find overt and pure Christian lanquage in almost all of the state charters, many say they exist to honor their God.
A true Christian Judge would be most compatable with who we are as a nation, but we do not bar other relgions for appointment. although we sould give credit to Confusius and Mahamed and other who contributed to lawful civilizations, none are prominent in any of our founding documents or artwork are anything. But Christ is everywhere in our past, plain and simple. -
