1) You really do want to ban Muslims from public office, maybe even from this country, don't you? You're not just not working your fingers on the keyboard.
That is so sad for a Christian to be filled with such emotions. :tear:
2) That is not true.

His nomination will not be opposed. Everyone is too afraid of muslims (and CAIR) to stand up and say anything about his religion. Except Virgil Goode. We reap what we sow. Mark my words.

Or will my attitude toward islam cause their mullahs to speak out against America in Friday prayers? Perhaps my denouncing their evil religion will cause a homicide bomber to blow some innocent people up or fly planes into tall buildings?
Or perhaps they will start persecuting Christians because one Christian on a board in cyberspace denounced their evil religion?
Oh, wait. They already do that.
Quake in your boots all you want to. I won't. And I won't be denied free speech because some mullah in some Wahhabi Saudi funded American mosque in some rural town in America might be offended. Let alone CAIR. Wallow in political correctness all you want to. I won't. -
2) You're the one quaking. In fact, you sound downright paranoid.
3) Disagreeing with your bigotry does not make one wallowing in politically correctness. -
"bigotry" and "downright paranoid" - when one has nothing of substance to offer to any debate or to prove their side of the debate, one resorts to name calling and innuendoes (against board rules, BTW) and thus, one has lost the debate according to debating protocol. How disappointing, I was hoping your debating skills were more refined.:wavey:
Mod note: I even moved this to politics rather than issuing the 3-page warning since I didn't want to be accused of closing threads. Good night. -
So - the question remains, that only hillclimber has had the courage to agree to, is this:
Do you want the Constitution amended to repeal the "No religious test" clause to keep men like our new Ambassador to the UN from holding office? Would you like the First Amendment amended to deprive US citizens of their "free exercise" right to avoid this kind of appointment in the future? -
52 of the 55 framers of the Constitution were devoute, orthodox Christians. None were Muslim; None worshiped allah! Moses with the Ten Commandments sits in the rotunda of the Library of Congress, also on the facade of the Supreme Court and also inside the Supreme Court!
James Madison, the Father of Constitution, wrote the following:
June 20, 1785Religion [is] the basis and Foundation of Government. We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.1788
The belief in God all powerful wise and good, is so essential to the moral order of the world and to the happiness of man, that arguments which enforce it cannot be drawn from too many sources nor adapted with too much solicitude to the different characters and capacities to be impressed with it.In his manuscript notes on the Bible
Christ's Divinity appears by St. John, chapter xx, 2: 'And Thomas answered and said unto Him, my Lord and my God!' Resurrection testified to and witnessed by the Apostles, Acts iv, 33: 'And with great power gave the Apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.'The religion he was talking about as the foundation of this government was not Muslim by any stretch of the imagination and to equate the two is disturbing at best.
Do I propose we change the 1st Amendment? Not at all. I would not deny them the right to practice their religion, again as long as it is peaceful. As I mentioned Thomas Jefferson's quote in one of the above post about his neighbor believing in 20 gods would not harm him. I would think from that statement you can reasonably conclude if it could harm him, he would think differently. We have already seen so called defenders of this Amendment use it for harm, just as NAMBLA who think this amendment gives them the right to abuse children! Ask the ACLU about this one too! -
Sorry for the double posts, I deleted the text of this one but could not delete the actual post.

snrsvdbygrc, you are to be commended for your excellent posts, but above all, you are to be commended for taking time to read what you wrote and edit when it comes across as personal attacks or innuendoes, and this Moderator thanks you.

I guess the rules depend on which side of the discussion you are on? -
Where would you get a notion like this? I suppose in the rush of emotion you missed my disclaimer - in the Muslim mind they can say "God" and in their own mind mean their own god without any difficulty.
I appreciate your research, I am very familiar with the writings of our founding fathers and aware of their basic Judeo-Christian ethos. A few of them were even devout believers. In spite of that they were wise enough the leave God out of the Constitution and insure that religion would not be tied to the US government.
52 out of 55 were devout Christians? Would love to see evidence of that (on another thread of course).

Thanks for your honesty in admitting that you want the "no religious test" clause amended, but don't know how to "fix" it.
BTW, if you wish in the future I will take the time to list the articles of the Constitution. I did not think it necessary in a discussion among well informed citizens.
Religion and state don't mix - lets leave it that way.
A man well qualified in the the field of foreign service is our ambassador to the UN. It would have been wrong to deprive him of that right. -
"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason alone, people of other faiths have been afforded freedom of worship here."
Patrick Henry - 1776 -
Thanks as well - I read it at work and was going to have to reply when I got home. I was impressed that it had been edited. -

It was addressed and I deleted several posts on the thread you reported. I also issued a warning to stop personal attacks. Go back and check. If there was another personal attack after that, you could have reported it again. Now can we get back on this topic, please?

Hmmmmmmmmm.
:)
I won't be arguing with you tonight. I am sky high as I just got off the phone with a man who has moved here and is going to open a kennel/training facility. Maybe I won't have to drive 72 miles(one way) to take Ossum to agility class and can even start another of our Shelties in agility training. :) -
Good deal, Ken. Great news for you. Have a good evening.:flower:
