I am going to pick Elliot Sadler to win the 500 this weekend.

I think Tony Stewart, Dale Jr, and Gordon will all be up there, but I think Sadler will pull it out.

If you want to play Fantasy NASCAR, I have a Yahoo league, all the members are Christians-

1. Go to http://fantasysports.yahoo.com/

2. Click 'Fantasy Auto Racing'

3. Click 'Create or join group'

4. Click 'Join existing group'

5. Click 'Join private group'

... and you will reach the holy grail. Enter the group ID (21679) and password (wheel) and you will be set.

Thanks Mexdeaf,
I think I'll join.

My prediction for the Daytona 500:

I'd love to see a Dodge win and the best chance seems to be Kurt Busch.

In my heart of hearts, I'd like to see Bobby LaBonte win and he seems to be running well.

But, the favorite has to be Jeff Gordon. He's strong and he's won the race before...three times. Yep, Jeff Gordon will take it.

I didn't like the way Tony Stewart couldn't work his way through the pack in the first race yesterday. I liked how the #8 team adjusted the car and made it handle better, a quality that was sorely missing last year. There is nobody better at restarts than Jeff Gordon and it's been that way for several years. You don't want to be a driver and see Jeff Gordon leading a green-white-checker finish.

Kyle Petty expects the #43 to win. I've echoed the sentiment. Stuff like this has a way of happening quicker than anybody expects and I say it happens on Sunday. Bobby Labonte returns the #43 to Victory Lane.

Labonte seemed to have a solid car yesterday. I would love to see him get to victory lane. He is a classy guy.

I thought Mark Martin retired after last season? Why is he still driving? Is this just a one race thing, or is he driving the whole year?

Martin was supposed to retire, but they could not get the driver they wanted to replace him in the 6, so Roush asked Martin to drive one more year.

43 back in victory lane at the Daytona 500? I'd love to see that. I do think he'll win a race before the season is over, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up about this one.

Jamie McMurray announced he was leaving Ganassi at the end of 06 to drive the 6 car for Roush. He asked to be let out of his contract after 05, but Ganassi wouldn't let him. It seemed kinda dirty on Roush's part to sign McMurray before his contract was up, but what was done was done. The talk at the time was who was going to drive the 6 car, because Martin was going to retire.

A few weeks after McMurray's announcement, Kurt Busch announced he was leaving Roush to drive the #2 car once Rusty retired. He asked to be let out of his contract also, but Roush wouldn't let him.

By the time that Ganassi and Roush figured out it was in their best interests to let those drivers go, Roush had already gotten Mark Martin to drive in 2006, and had gotten a sponsor as well. Mark is still planning on driving a number of truck races, including the race at Daytona tonight. He's on the pole for the race, and I think, and hope, that he'll win it.

I have always liked Martin. I am glad to see him driving another year and I hope he does really well this year.

I have never watched much of the truck races. But I think I am going to check some of them out this year.

Truck racing at Daytona is spectacular! They run without restrictor plates. It is Daytona racing the way it used to be and the way it should be. NASCAR's goal with the "car of tomorrow" is to make the CUP cars as "blocky" as the trucks so that they can get rid of restrictor plates. Hasten the day!!!

The only thing about that race that I did not like was it ending under a caution. I do not think any race should end under a caution.

It means if you don't like NASCAR you have every right to not post here, instead of inserting a silly question in the middle of a thread where people who enjoy NASCAR have been posting.

I am not going to get into a debate with you about whether NASCAR is a sport or not. If you will look back in this thread ccrob did a good job of answering this question.
