Hey, we finally agree on something

</font>[/QUOTE]He's like a younger Gordon or young DE Sr with more aggression.

While it is a balancing act, his temper is part of what makes him good... whether I care for it or not.

I agree. I am not a Gordon fan. But he isnt a dirty driver. And I think he and Stewart are the most talented drivers in the series.

How many races did Dale Earnhardt win and didn't put his right front fender into the left rear quarter panel?
2 wins at Daytona and 10 at Talladega come to mind. I don't recall him ever knocking anybody out of the way to win at either track, though he did have doughnuts on the side of the car from time to time. For as many times as he nudged guys out of the way at short tracks and intermediates, he was smart enough to know not to turn anybody at the big tracks.

It would be better handled for NASCAR and Gibbs to sit down with Tony and anyone else that needs it and say "This is going to stop, you do it again and you sit out 3 races."
Will never happen. Nascar likes this stuff too much. They'll say they don't want vigilante justice on the track, but they'll say it with a wink and a smile. It would be like killing the goose that laid the golden egg. And if Gibbs hasn't done it by now, he's never going to do it. I don't condone or like vigilante justice, but it is what it is.

Vigilante justice is as much a part of the NASCAR mystique as anything else... It always has been.

Face it, on any given Sunday you have 42 little guys with incredible Napoleon complexes and hyper road rage fighting for the same spots on a race track... I said 42 since Michael W has neither the size nor normal temperment for a NASCAR driver.

It is fun to see Gordon and Stewart race each other so hard. I would love to see those two have good years and challenge each other for the win in about 10-12 races this year. NASCAR has not had a good rivalry in many years. They need one. Hopefully this will be it. I'll be rooting for Gordon against Stewart!

Size wise- I think he is.

Attitude wise, he would be on the opposite end from Stewart with the rest in between but heavily skewed toward Stewart.

Being cocky kind of goes with the turf.

Eventually, we'll almost certainly see a feud between the Busch's and Stewart... Which will suit me fine since I don't like any of them.

I had just about bought Stewarts nice guy PR until this past weekend proved the old Tony is still in charge of his head and heart.

I have always thought Dale Jarrett was similar to Waltrip in how he carries himself.

I would love to see a feud between Stewart and Gordon or Stewart and the Buschs. I do not care for either of the Busch brothers. I do not care for Gordon either, but I do have the utmost respect for him as a driver. I don't have much respect for the Busch brothers and their driving or attitude.

I think it would be good for Nascar to have Dale Jr. in the mix with a feud as well. Maybe he can team up with his buddy Tony against the Buschs and Gordon.

He probably fits between Stewart and Bobby Labonte.

The Buschs can't possibly be confused with being level headed.

Doubt it. There is probably as much rivalry between the two of them as there is with either of them and Gordon.

Junior all but mocked Stewarts lamentations about the dangers of bump drafting... not surprising since he virtually invented it.

Besides that, my understanding is that pretty much no one in the garage likes Kurt B. He's supposedly a jerk both on and off the track. The idea that Gordon would team with him even if he were willing is fairly remote.

He was the one who ask how many races Dale would have won with out taking some one out. He gave the answer at that time and I don't recall what it was. However he didn't blame Dale. He said if Dale had raced when he did and took him out as often as he had others, he would have taken Dale out of every race which he could not win. He said that was the code of his day. He believed if the other drivers wouldn't take up for themselves, Dale should keep doing what he was doing.

Those 2 have learned how to control themselves, but it wasn't always that way.

In 1993, at the spring Bristol race, Dale Jarrett threw his helmet at another driver after being wrecked. It was a pretty good throw too. He came about 6 inches from the helmet hitting the window net. Ned, his father, was calling the race for ESPN and wasn't too happy about what he saw.

In 1995, at the June Michigan race, Mikey felt like Lake Speed tried to wreck him late in the race. So, when Speed came down pit road after the race, Mikey got out of his car, and punched Speed 3 times while he was still sitting in the car.

That's mine as well. After Jimmy Spencer cleaned Busch's clock at Michigan in 2003, Robby Gordon, who doesn't have many friends in the garage area either, said that Busch had it coming. He even offered to pay Spencer's fine. I don't recall anybody defending Busch.

Gordon is probably too level headed and pragmatic to get into it long term with Stewart.
Absolutely. Gordon and Stewart have had confrontations before this. In either 99 or 2000, they got into a shouting match after a lap 1 crash at Watkins Glen that took them both out.

The idea that Gordon would team with him even if he were willing is fairly remote.
Neither Busch nor Gordon would "team up" with the other. Busch was pretty mad about Gordon getting into him at Martinsville last year. He's just as likely to punt Jeff himself.

Kurt Busch and level-head goes together pretty much like peanut butter and motor oil do.

I did not intend to mean that Gordon and Buschs would team up, that came across wrong. I know that would never happen. I would rather see Gordon win than the Busch brothers.

I do think that Tony Stewart and Dale Jr are relatively close, although I am sure there is a good bit of rivalry there as well.

According to both Junior and Stewart, they like Gordon in personal life... Of course, I guess that's what they're supposed to say... huh?

Have you all seen the commercial with Stewart, Dale Jr, Jimmie Johnson and Gordon where they are toasting one another and then dumb the glasses over their heads...thats funny.

BTW, I don't think that Stewart is the only one due some peer discipline. Kyle B is a prime candidate for the "too big for his diaper" award.

You kind of have to wonder how bad someone has to be before Gordon lectures them... as he did Kyle.

Something else we completely agree on

So who are the favorites coming up in California?

What a crock. Nascar proves once again that their bark is worse than their bite. Some might say that they continue to play favorites when handing out penalties.

Todd Berrier's cheating attempt at Las Vegas last year isn't much different than what Cheater did, but Berrier's team lost 25 points in addition to a suspension and fine. Terry Labonte was docked 25 points for an unapproved carburetor modification, but since the team bought their engine from Joe Gibbs Racing, it's fairly likely that they had nothing to do with the carb.

Head on over to thatsracin.com and see the column that David Poole wrote about this farce of a penalty. He says it much better than I can.
