A conservative legal scholar is raising red flags about President Obama's pick for deputy attorney general -- namely his reliance on foreign law to interpret the U.S. Constitution. The nominee has also been characterized as a 'porn lawyer' and a 'hired gun' for the ACLU.

We have already witnessed the damage he is doing to our country in only a few days. This is just tossing another log onto the fire. It's pretty pathetic, but the O man has a definite agenda he wants to promote and that is the change he talked about during his campaign - conservatives only feared it, the masses had no idea what his "change" really meant. Now in only a few short days, we can see the evil is utterly apparent. His nominees are just as morally derelict as he is.

So we have two of a kind!
-
Yet another pending "mistake" by Obama but only if there's enough public outrage to make it politically "smart" for him because the fundamental values don't really matter to him.
-
I personally don't see anything wrong with this but each are entitled to a view. We have never put juveniles to death and he was able to convince a supreme court to his view so he must have been somewhat close to the law. Certainly wasn't foreign. Then he represented a mens magazine. I wouldn't make him pastor or deacon but he appears to be a good lawyer. Looks like he wins which is a good thing.
-
So winning is all that counts, blast the ethics or morals?
-
Now if he were a lawyer who claimed to be a Christian and represented men's magazines then it would be different.
If you had a choice between a Christian lawyer who never wins and a secular lawyer who never lost which would you choose? Since I know my God can work through even a sinner I would take the one he gives me even if it's the sinner. -

I called & left a voicemail for Senator Jeff Sessions. As for Senator Richard Shelby, I attempted to call him & his voicemail was full. So I sent him an E-mail. That dude looks like nothing but bad news for us.

To answer your question LB, I would choose the Christian lawyer. Whenever possible I choose to do business with Christians because the Holy Spirit in me is the same Holy Spirit in them, not another spirit. I also believe in the power of prayer and especially when 2 or 3 agree together so that is good to have a prayer partner with a Christian lawyer, or doctor, or accountant, or mechanic, realtor, etc., where I wouldn't have a prayer partner with a non-Christian.
But for me, a Christian is who I am and Who I am in relationship with, not a label. Therefore, Christianity influences my world view in all matters. Even politics. And values and opinions about those who may end up supposedly being a public servant or in authority over me. I want Godly leadership. -

I generally agree with much of what you say but, though I understand the point you are making, on this I believe you are wrong. In 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 the Apostle Paul writes:
9. I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
10. Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
12. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13. But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
We are to judge those within the fellowship, not those without the fellowship, otherwise we would have to withdraw from the world.
Similarly is addressing the qualifications of a bishop [pastor] Paul tells us in 1 Timothy 3:1-7:
1. This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3. Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4. One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5. (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6. Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. -
Old Reg, I think you missed my point.
My post was in response to LB's comment here:

This of it like this, how can we bring others to Christ unless we have some association with the world. The commandment was to GO... Not hang around the Church and only fellowship with Christians, we are to Go into the world and make disciples. We can't do that unless we go where the sinners are, meet them on their level and bring them to Christ. This doesn't mean you become like them, it just means you can't treat them like a leper... Don't worry, their sins won't rub off you you. You're covered by the blood... -
Yes, but LB, the point raised in the OP is that I don't want someone who has such a wicked resume in charge as second in command in the Attorney General's office in my country - why must we stoop to such picks in authority?
