How does one arrive at Psalm 118:8 as the middle verse of the Bible? According to some sources, if the Bible has 31,173 verses then Psalm 118:8 would be the middle verse; but these same sources estimate the words of the Bible at about 774,000. The lowest estimate of verses I've seen is 31,101 which is only 72 verses fewer than these that believe Psalm 118:8 is the middle verse. IOW, they believe that Psalm 118:8 comes at about 387,000 words from "In the beginning" (Gensis 1:1). The 72 verse difference could possibly be explained by including the Pauline subscripts and the superscripts of Psalms as verses (many of which come after Psalm 118).
Now, unless the Old Scofield can fit an additional 7,000 words (788,000 - 774,000 = 14,000/2) into less than 72 verses (about 100 words on average in each verse!) BEFORE getting to Psalm 118:8, it would seem almost certain that the middle verse is somewhere else. It should be well beyond Psalm 118.

Since it has been culminated that I made a word count, I wonder if Brother franklinMonroe will now make insidious remarks to make out as if you believe the Apocrypha is also the word of God?
I think he has a preference in this regard as to only attack those whom he disagrees with on the matter at hand.
I also don't see much on the post made earlier as if to refute the familiarity of the KJB over all other versions for one to be made more suitable in an accurate study of the order of the books of the Bible and its content.
It seems more that a morsel of meat has been laid in the middle of the pack and the wolves are devouring everything within an inch of it. -
I wonder if the preoccupation of the middle words as to disprove a theory or opinion as to what is the middle of the Bible is related to this practice to capture apes?
Actually all I have done is offer that the Lord is the middle of the entirety of the Bible. Now the monkeys might learn a human response and turn loose of this bright and shiny object they've come to behold in this jar. If they refuse, I'm sure they will keep loking like plain ol' apes.
But anything is worthy of discussion when it is against the KJB or anyone who holds to it. -

You said that "the Lord" is the middle two words of the KJV. Can you prove that? Can you prove that "the Lord" is not the middle of the NIV? I didn't think so.
Stating conjecture as fact is in fact....lying unless you can back it up. -

I looked the verse up with my Online Bible. the English 118:8 is the Russian 117:8
-
I find it fantastic that you believe this.
Does God speak 17th century English only? -
This would not have been true of the 1611 KJV which contained the Apocrypha.
BTW, this count is not someone's repeating something from somebody's web site.
I have personally counted these verses, and double checked my own count, for accuracy.
FTR, I invested a few hours in this project, when another challenged my citing of this number, that I had previously posted (in answer to the "urban legend' that Ps. 118 in the center chapter of the Bible and Ps. 118:1 being the center verse).
My 'source' had, at that time, come from about three unrelated web-sites.
Now I know this as "first-hand" information.
Incidentally, I have never "ordered Scripture" at any time. I always bought a copy "off the shelf." :D

However, in the United States, as the KJV is now in the public domain, one can 'edit' a KJV (any edition) to some degree with spelling changes, etc., yet still print it, all while calling it a KJV. [If the KJV Bible doesn't suit you as written, change it just a little bit (extremely minor 'editing', you understand), still call it a KJV, and see how much of this, one can now 'get away with'.]

Now are you going to apologize for hijacking this thread by turning it into a KJV debate? -
I really don't see any need in letting this thing go any longer.
