Over population

The people that I know that argue against doctors use those exact same quotes to show us that nowhere does God tell us to see doctors, and if we have enough faith, we won't need them. If God wants us to have insulin, he will provide it. If God wanted us to have good eyes, he would have provided them. Some of them will go so far as using a little wine for the stomach, but won't even use aspirin, and they will die before they have surgery. Using the exact same arguments that you are using against destroying our planet.

Do I think the Lord will return before it's a problem? Certainly. I look for his return daily. At the same time, no one knows when it's going to be, and I would not want to be even partially responsible for destroying the lives of billions of people when God has given me the ability to help prevent it.

Do you use glasses or insulin or aspirin? If so, why? That's man-made knowledge and wisdom.

Maybe someone already mentioned this -- I think the population in Europe is declining, isn't it?

Also, many years ago (maybe 30 or so?), they were predicting that by this time there would be overpopulation and not enough food. As it turns out, studies showed that the problem of not enough food is not overpopulation, but rather mismanagement of resources, not knowing how to use resources, and corrupt governments.

Those verses say that the doctors are for the sick - I don't see how someone can use it otherwise. I DO use medication (actually, I'm insulin resistant - the opposite of diabetes) and I'm thankful to God for it. There's no where in the Bible where God said NOT to use medicine or doctors so I use them happily. God DOES, however, say to be fruitful and multiply and I'm going to follow His Word and not man's limited 'wisdom'. God calls us to obedience - not second-guessing.

The need for population control is based on specualtion at best and the catch all "need to be a good steward".

While it is convenient it has no application.

Malthus was correct . . . the ability to better manage only gives us more time until his constraint is reached . . .

The real problem is that 1.6 billion people want what the other 4.4 billion people have . . . and before it is over there will be a war over it . . . .

Actually, can you give me a verse for that?

Genesis 1:28, God says "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth". I don't see any conditions in there at all.

Ann

Save those with blind ears (see above), there is an obvious condition.
When the earth is Full, it is time to quit being fruitful and multipying.

The debate hinges then on:

1. Is the earth is now full?

2. Is the earth not yet full?

Can you show me Scripture for that "obvious condition"? If God had a limit on it, don't you think He'd have told us?

Psalm 127:3-5 says "Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate."

I'll personally take that reward that the Lord has for me. I want to be greatly blessed and not limit God. If HE wants me to not have as many children, HE will close my womb. I have to say, I guess God wanted me to have just 4 kids - I lost 2 to miscarriage and despite fertility drugs, there were many months with lots of good quality eggs that I did NOT conceive. God, in His infinite wisdom knows what He's doing. I'm not going to second-guess Him and decide that MY wisdom is greater than His.

Of course.

Genesis 1:28a (KJV1611 Edition):
And God blessed them, and God said vnto them,
Be fruitfull, and multiply, and replenish the earth,
and subdue it, ...

Here is the 'expand without limit' reading
which is NOT what God said:

Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said vnto them,
Be fruitfull, and multiply, and over replenish the earth,
and subdue it, ...

BTW, someone has defined 'politics' as meaning 'who gets what'.

ROTFL - GREAT translation - too bad it's not what God said.

The word "replenish" is 'male' which means "to fill, be full" I'm going to make sure that I do my part to fill it. :D
