Thanks BB for picking up this thread. I had (thankfully) forgotten about it.
The idea of baptists siding with the Pilgrims in a church-state discussion frightens me. The Bill of Rights was intended to protect us from the oppresive religious practices of folks like the Pilgrims and the Puritans.
It is interesting that the Congregationalists did outgrow those views, and that the UCC is one of the more liberal mainline denominations.
