Israel is the key to everything, the Church hasn't replaced the Jew. We are hiers to the throne, we were adopted, but the Jew is still God's chosen people. There are still things that do not concern the Christian, the Jew plays an active role in God's plan.
A good way to see why things happen in our world today when there are disasters, Look to see How America turn its back on the Jew? Check out the book by Bill Koeing - Eye to Eye, Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel. Bill is a White House correspondent. Good stuff, he is a good speaker. -

Paul admonished us to run with patience the race set before us. No Christian is going to take the suicide shortcut and win the prize. A Christian that kills themselves is going to find themselves cast out at the judgment seat of Christ. All Christians will ultimately be saved at the last day (think great white throne) but the kingdom is a reward for faithfulness. Funny to think that one could just opt out of service and slice your wrists and hear 'well done, thou good and faithful servant...' but it is not surprising to hear you voice it, as it is the natural conclusion of once-saved-always-saved (which I believe) when not tempered with the proper fear of God. -
The idea of losing ones salvation to be is false doctrine and to teach it is worse. Tell me what causes one to lose their salvation. How many time must one sin before they lose it. I guess you can be plucked from the hand of God (John 10:28-29). Was Jesus not telling us the truth, there is no eternal security?
I want to know, do you believe that if someone committs suicide, whether or not they are going to hell. In this senario the person would be a born again believer in Christ, saved, bought by the blood.
Is this person in hell if they committed suicide? -

tinytim,
You say,
You say, you was before pretrib, now midtrib, but you are premill.
Myself was before pretrib/premill in my early Christian life. In 1992, I became prewrath similiar as midtrib rapture. But, I was remain premill. In 2000, I became posttrib, then also became amill too.
There is no promise find anywhere in the Bible tells us that we shall escape from tribulations and persecutions. Church already faced many tribulations and persecutions throughout centuries to today.
I am aware that Ed Edwards always outlined on types of 'tribulation'. Actual, tribulation means, trouble. We all have trials, persecitions, sufferings. Because Christ suffered on the cross, so, therefore, we should follow His example - 1 Peter 2:21; and 4:16.
Many baptists believe 'tribulation' equal with 'wrath'. Both are different. 1 Thess. 3:3-4 telling us, we are appointed for tribulations, because Christ suffering for us. 1 Thess. 1:10; & 5:9 telling us we are not appointed wrath, because, we are saved through Jesus Christ - eternal life.
John 3:36 tells us, the wrath of God is abide upon a person BECAUSE of not believing, this verse is not speak of seven year of tribulation period, but speak of salvation.
The wrath of God pour upon people, who not believing on Christ, and received the mark of the beast, send them to everlasting fire.
The timing of our gathering in the Bible indeed show us WHEN we all shall be gathering together. In Matt. 24:29-31 telling us, we shall be gathering together right after tribulation. Also, our gathering together shall NOT come yet till first come a falling away(apostasy) and the revealed of man of sin in 2 Thess. 2:1-4.
There are plenty verses in the Bible mentioned about second coming. Not a single verse anywhere in the Bible teaching us that, there are two phases of second coming, or split coming. It teaches us, there are only one single future second advent of Christ at the end of the age.
I could list ton of verses from the Bible on second coming, if I want to. But I suggest you to study and anaylze Bible yourself. It can telling you, the timing of Christ's coming, and what will happen to the world at the end of the age.
In Christ
Rev. 22:20 -Amen! -

Go back and do a search on some very long threads....
They state that it is a very old Baptist doctrine....
I got tired of arguing against it, and realized that I won't be able to change their minds... So I ignore these statements. -
There are some today that are "victims" in this life... All they see is negativity... And all you hear is "Oh, I can't wait to get to Heaven, my life stinks" They become obsessed with "the rapture" and that is all they talk about... Satan has them trapped, and they are worthless to Christianity.. because all they think about is "poor me" "I want to go home", "MY life is so bad"...
I got news for you, Christianity is not about YOU it is all about the Great God we serve....
Look through the hymn book.. most songs we sing are not worship songs..
A worship song is all about God... nothing about us...
Take "I'll fly away" all about what "I" get to do...
"When we all get to Heaven" Is all about what we get to do...
"Where the roses never fade"... where is the praise in that....
Then you have the mother worship songs.. "If I could hear my mother pray again" (how many sang that mothers day?) Worshipping Mom instead of God!
Or "precious memories" hmmmm....
And before you say I am taking up for the new modern songs, Let me say that even the song, "Heart of Worship" is about how 'we" worship...
I can't wait until Christ comes back, but I am not a prophecy kook that ignores the rest of the Bible.. The Bible is given to show us how to live now... There is not enough discipleship teaching in my opinion...
We have a boatload of dead Christians just waiting and watching hoping for Jesus to come back and rescue them, but they don't care about their neighbors...
I don't have time to debate things that are not essentials.. there are people dying and going to Hell...
I beleive Christ is coming back... The sooner the better... but if I am not going to waste time on a roof somewhere looking for him, while my neighbors die and go to Hell.
I take it you are IFB... What is your take on discipleship? What about worship? Those are just as important as prophecy... -
-
It is a song about what the singer/writer is doing.. not about what God is doing...
Don't get me wrong.. I love the song...I sing it..
As I do all the ones I listed.. our church sings them all...
But let's not kid ourselves, when we are the subject of the song, it is not a worship song...
Go through your hymnal, and pick those songs that only describe how Great God is... those are worship songs...
Just a different category of hymns. -
Then "Holy, Holy, Holy" is out, too.
"... our song shall rise to thee!" -
 Good point...
See, I'm not perfect!:wavey:
But I will say this....:godisgood:
and :jesus:
Now back to prophecy...Is the point of this thread to discuss why prophecy is not being preached and taught as much today as it was a few yrs ago?
If so, I still stand on the fact that with the year 2000 approaching people were more interested in it. -
Be careful with the use of "I" and other such words. I agree many times it is self-centered focus that is not about worship. However, take a look through Psalms and notice how many times "I" is used. It does not always mean there is not a focus on worship.

Well said, PastorSBC.
-
This thread started out about prophecy, has gone from there to suicide and eternal security, and now has gone down the music/worship trail. I can't keep up. Is there any thread that can stay on topic?
BTW, just because someone studies and is interested in Bible prophecy and the current events unfolding, does NOT mean they don't care about the salvation of their neighbors. Probably, they care MORE because they don't want to see their neighbors perish and go through the Great Tribulation and possibly be eternally lost. IFBs don't stand on rooftop waiting for the rapture. At least, I've never known one who did. And IFBs don't set dates, either, and aren't looking to "escape" this life. -
I guess I am reacting to what I went through growing up...
We had an assistant pastor.. and all he preached was prophecy...
He was caught up in it so much that he declared that Jesus would be back in 1988...
Some warned him.. but he "Knew" it to be true... because he spent so much time studying it...and everyone else didn't... so that made him an expert...in his mind.
Well, 1989 came, and no Jesus... the preacher claimed that the jewish calender was not like ours.. and he had to readjust it...
I saw him in 1997, and he was preaching that Jesus would be back in 2000...
I have seen so many get so caught up in prophecy that prophecy becomes addictive to them...
I study prophecy.. I have my theories based on my studies.. but I am not going to be dogmatic about them...
For instance, I am starting to believe the antichrist will be a jewish muslim. A Jew converted to Islam...
I may be right, I may be wrong...
But when it comes down to it, it won't matter.. I will be in Heaven rejoicing around the throne, and enjoying the marriage supper of hte lamb.
Getting ready to ride back with Jesus on a stallion! -
Dr. David Jeremiah has(IMHO) one of the best radio series on end time prophecy I have ever heard
