Or did this wicked woman, who does not meet your criteria for what is Christian...invade their home and find the receipt and then express shock at our friend Don?
He can tell us.
God bless. -
I can understand the surprise concerning alcohol content in vanilla, but do you have a problem with her shock? Do you think she was expressing self-righteous and hypocritical indignation in her "shock?"
And how did she find out? How did she learn of this?

I hope your wife uses it to make goodies for you, as well as others. Can I guess she does that?

Get over it, my friend, and stop trying to encourage people to join your faith.

I really see no reason for Christians to indulge. I don't judge those who do, but that does not mean I would not be "shocked" to learn of a "Christian" buying a bottle of liquor if the context was not presented as being used for something other than a beverage known to alter one's mind.
Don said: ↑Then she was educated on how much alcohol is actually in our lives.Click to expand...
And just how much alcohol is in the usual half to teaspoon of vanilla that is also accompanied by a vast percentage more of ingredients that are not intoxicating?

So what is your Pastor's views on the subject?

righteousdude2 said: ↑As I listened to my pastor speak on Mother's Day, based on scripture from Proverbs 31, it struck me that he spent a good portion of his message on the things we needed to be trained up in, by our mothers. One of those "don'ts" was incased in three verses .... three verses about the virtue of not drinking.
That is all I will say about drinking alcohol. So after reading the verses he discussed, I'd like to know how you view drinking and your witness?
(Drinking) " .... is not for kings, O Lemuel,
it is not for kings to drink wine,
or for rulers to take strong drink,
5 lest they drink and forget what has been decreed
and pervert the rights of all the afflicted.
6 Give strong drink to the one who is perishing,
and wine to those in bitter distress;
7 let them drink and forget their poverty
and remember their misery no more." (ESV)
From the MSG Bible:
"“Leaders can’t afford to make fools of themselves,
gulping wine and swilling beer,
Lest, hung over, they don’t know right from wrong,
and the people who depend on them are hurt.
Use wine and beer only as sedatives,
to kill the pain and dull the ache
Of the terminally ill,
for whom life is a living death."
Or, the KJV:
"4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more."Click to expand...
And yet Jesus turned water into wine and drank wine...
Not a drinker in the least, but teetotalism is foreign to the bible, imo of course... -

And it is quite clear theology is not something you are interested in.

You cannot even address that which has been clearly presented to you.
Earth said: ↑And here is what you and tea totaling smug opinionated and self righteous group of hypocrates can do.......go out to a bar and sit next to a person who is drinking and ask them to tell you why they are drinking.....Click to expand...
Had a former band-mate who had that bright idea. Wanted to start a band and play secular establishments. "Yeah, we'll witness for Christ doing that."
Next thing you know he is talking about how good the drink a bar named after his band was.
As far as speaking to alcohol drinkers...
...guess I have to inform you I am doing that now, aren't I?

Sad that I have to do it on a Christian forum as well. Even sadder the guy advocating having a drink also spends most of his time persecuting the Body of Christ.
Earth said: ↑Actually do something.....Click to expand...
Earth said: ↑go out to someone.....save somebody.Click to expand...
Not in a salvific sense...just from a horrible theology that has proved to show him nothing about God's love for His body. Flaws and all.
It might be best to explain that it seems that I have been where you are, but you have not been where I am. I no longer need a drink, and I certainly don't encourage people to drink.
That's tantamount to saying, "Yeah, we can eat pork, go ahead, eat ten pork chops at a time." I see it as harmful, and the only reason to do it is to alter the mind, so...
...sorry this pricks your conscience.

Luke 1:11-17
King James Version (KJV)
11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.
17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Check it out some time...his name is John.

Oh, a Catholic, eh?
There is only one sin that cannot be forgiven, and that is the Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost.

So tell me, exactly what is the reason you give for drinking yourself?
Ever get drunk?

It will be, I believe, from among Orthodox Jewry that the 144,000 will be chosen.
What other Orthodox practices do you also feel is right in the sight of God?

Did Jesus drink wine? Was He called a winebibber?
Don't disagree with u about John the Baptist. Same was for Samson's mother, too. And also Samson... -
