This may seem a bit harsh, but for those of you who know anything about the Watchtower Society (Jehovahs Witnesses) you know how utterly destructive it's false doctrine and lies are to those who have ended up in hell because of them. Satan is the father of all lies and he seeks to steal, kill, and destroy us. False Doctrine is one of the ways he does this. I believe God's wrath burns against the sin of lies...especially those that take his holy precious Word and twist it into a Lie. Please take a moment and pray for the downfall of the Watchtower Society. Pray that its members will awaken to the truth found only in Jesus Christ. Also send your friends a link to this post. Thanks and God Bless.

What lies are you talking about? I am not as familiar with their believes as i would like to be, so could you please tell me how they are "twisting" the God's words.

Thank you for posting this. I could easily have written "Satan seduces the saved". Our youngest son is caught-up in the false "oneness/Jesus-only" doctrine. He was an ordained deacon 3yrs. ago & was in a backslidden condition. His straying from the Faith has costed him dearly & has devastated our lives. There really is such a thing as 'brainwashing', but I'm still to understand about demon oppression.

Here are some good links for those who want to put in time learning about this cult.
http://www.serve.com/larryi/jws.htm
http://www.freeminds.org/history/history.htm -- I don't think this one is Christian, but the material is abundant and varied.

"Here are some good links for those who want to put in time learning about this cult."
Are you being sarcastic? Should i look into it? I mean i hate the idea of being ignorant towards such a huge deal, but isi t just a waste of my time? -
It is definitly a good idea to look into the JW's. With cults that claim to be Christain like the JW's and Mormons it is very important to understand why they aren't.

I have to admit, I didn't know a lot about the Jehovahs Witnesses. Thank you for all these links, Helen!

Here are some other sites about JW's:
http://www.reachtheworldforjesus.homestead.com/JehovahWitnesses.html
http://www.jude3.net/JWIDX.HTM
http://www.carm.org/witnesses.htm
carm.org is a great site for imformation of many cults as well.

I used to moderate at CARM! I was Helen Fryman then, before I married Barry Setterfield. Matt Slick, the webmaster, does an excellent job of researching on the articles he writes and I should have thought of him when I was posting links.
To the person who asked if my links were a joke, most certainly not. JW's are too complicated a cult to wrap it up in a few nice words! Here is some short stuff, though: they look to the Watchtower Association as the final word on all dictrine, the same way Catholics look to the Vatican. They deny the Trinity, are extremely legalistic, are essentially polytheistic, and have redefined all major words and concepts to do with basic Christianity. They also 'translated' their own Bible -- the New World Translation -- in which both Hebrew and Greek are smashed to smithereens in favor of them supporting their own doctrines. They believe it is sinful to celebrate any occasion, including birthdays, Christmas, Easter (Resurrection Sunday), etc. They are much like Mormons in their door-to-door work as salvation is by works (in both cases).
PLEASE read a little on the links. I haven't begun to touch all the basics! -
I agree with everything here, though I would add that I think Christians should always make a point of welcoming JW / Mormon missionairies into their homes and using this as an oppotunity to witness. Before my wife died, she befriended a JW lady, who, as a result, was saved from Satan's grasp and now helps save others from such unbiblical cults. Praise be!

As you are not a Baptist, our rules state that you may not post in the "Baptist only" areas of the board. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

The JWs and the Mormons are the more well know cults but there are more out there that few ever hear about. I feel any belief that gives a distorted view of Christianity is a cult. Who can forget the Hare Krishnas, the Moonies, Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple, and so many more to numerous to name. Walter Martin looks in depth in his book The Kingdom of The Cults along with Christian Science/Scientology the celebrities cult. Cults will always be here as they have in every generation. Those well established in there belief are not easily duped, and its usually the new, lost, or searching that are the targets. Anyway that has been my experience!... Brother Glen

Granny Gumbo:
Try to get your youngest son to look at the Website, Churches that Abuse. It has many many articles about the destructiveness of the UPC Churches.
Make sure the web host is Lois Gibson. -
Another great website that has alot of info on cults is:
http://www.watchman.org/jw/index.htm -
I like the advice my senior pastor gives about dealing with JW's or Mormons "They are sinners needing salvation just like everyone else." I often find myself forgetting that and trying to show them where their beliefs (which needs to be done, but not that alone won't save them) are wrong instead of showing them the Jesus Christ I know and what he says.

Excellent point, Bugman. Something that I have told my students in Bible studies for a long time is to remember that what a person believes is true is his or her foundation for their lives. You cannot attack the foundation and not have the person either up in arms or so horridly confused that either way they want to avoid you and your religion!
Build another foundation. Through friendship, kindness, calm demeanor, quietly build -- or start building -- a foundation that has Jesus Christ as the cornerstone, by which all things are measured. Then, when they are ready, the Holy Spirit will do the moving! It is far better for them to realize the mistakes in their cult doctrines as they are exposed to the truth rather than having someone throw the mistakes in their faces.
The only thing Jesus ever used when answering lies, temptations, and accusations was Scripture. We need to take a lesson from that! -
It's really sad and true about the lies they teach. Cults like that prey on unsaved church members and saved people who aren't grounded on what they believe.
What's really sad is the people in my comunity who are Mormans/JW's are so sincere in what they say. But they are sincerly wrong! I have quite a few friends who have joined up with Mormans/JW's and other cults.
I think there is a verse somewhere pertaining to "God is not the author of confussion". And if these contridicting beliefs aren't from God, then they are of course from the Devil!
Satan is devouring the lost and brain washing some saved, and it breaks my heart to see this happening in my community as well as other places.
I know more about the Mormans than the Jehovah's {false} Wittneses, and I had heard from someone in our church that the J{F}W's refused to salute the American flag. That in itself infuriates me!!
We really need to get busy to win this lost and dieing world for our Saviour.
In our Saviour,
Abby -
Thanks, hrhema; it has been a while since I was at Lois's sight & I've spent an hour catching up :) "When this happened to our son, we had never heard of "oneness", so after 3yrs, I have enough material now to fill a truck! It is so very disheartening seeing what our son's life has become. Just last week, he lost his home to a fire. He lost his bank position, his marriage of 7yrs. ended, he is not working, his ex-wife is taking him to court, etc. I see this as the chastening Hand of God, but he thinks of himself as Job.
We are in a 'hotspot' of oneness/apostolics & I spend every waking moment trying to reach them; it does get intense at times. My prayer is that the Lord will send us a preacher who can & will refute their teachings. -
He says do not try to argue Christianity vs Islam with them. Christians may win the argument but lose that soul. Give the message & show Christ's love, plant the seed...& leave the rest to the Holy Spirit. -
How about the Church of Scientology, the Free Masons?, Christian Scientists, if you need to read about cults and teachings (false teachings) against Jesus Christ's Word. Visit www.letusreason.org.
I learned a lot there. If you were aware that there is so much occult, homosexuality pride and people mixing various religions (practices) together that God finds detestable, like in the Catholic Church which is being too "open" to even witchcraft, New Age teachings, visit: www.CatholicConcerns.org Many similarities between their idol worship and pagan worship to Eygyptian beliefs or Old Babylon.
