THE COMMON GROUND COFFEE HOUSE #26

Boy Howdy, all. Just a minute to check in as I spent the a.m. in other pursuits and now must run to the bank.

But wanted to POST A DISCLAIMER. NO snow is heading out of Wyoming toward ANYONE. We have none on the ground, none in the forecast and only warm (32F and still morning) windy bright blue skies.

Taught college in Minnesota for years and saw they were getting nailed. I've been on campus and had so much snow, blowing and -25 that they even allowed the gals to wear slacks!

Compromisers!

Dr.B.: It's about time you crawled out of bed. Now you know why I turn in early! ;)

Diane: I am so excited that you are getting snow!

My laundry is done, kittens are painted and drying, haystacks are made and cooling, just have to water my plants and my to-do list for today is done!

I'm NOT looking forward to going back out in the cold today! Gonna put velcro on the ends of my scarf so I don't lose it again.

I'm having an awful time getting Nick to stay on task today. Daddy got a law enforcement catalog in the mail and Nick keeps sneaking off to look at spike strips, tear gas, etc. He really wants to be a 'cop' when he grows up. We had Krispy Kreme donuts last week and he had 3 before I got up.... said he was practicing being a cop!

It's overcast but 55° but I sure hope we do get snow!

HI Mark, I hope you're feeling better soon. My Jim developed asthma at age 34 right out of the blue. He had always been in perfect health and then had a coughing fit that ended up with him seeing a doctor. He was under treated (not given proper treatment) for years through the V.A. and now has Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and a medical book of other serious ailments. Try not to stay on prednisone for long. It causes many concerns. Cataracts is the least of your worries with that! Jim has 2 regular inhalers and a pill that he punctures and inhales. He doesn't have to use his rescue inhaler much at all now with the pill.... Still praying for you my friend!

This getting up and putting in a regular 8-hour day is for NORMAL people, not me. Bothers my spending time on the 'net and having fun! Ph, well.

And probably going to go shopping tonight. Ugh. One of my favorite tasks but NOT in the hustle and crush of Christmas.

Hey Dr. Bob! I hate to shop but hubby loves it. I did do some Christmas shopping the other night but there were not that many people out late Sunday night. Our stores are open til midnight or 24 hours now!

I can't believe how sleepy I am tonight. We just finished supper and I'm working on the visitor cards from our Fall Festival. I started with 716 cards and am down to about 60 families as good prospects but each family gets two cards completely filled out and it's taking a while!

Am I all alone here tonight? My hand hurts! LOL. I think when we spend so much time typing, writing by hand becomes uncomfortable!

It's still 55° here and I am beginning to wonder if we'll see even one flake.

Okay. My hand is cramping up so I'm giving up for tonight. What's everyone up to?

So, I'm trying to figure out a way to make myself a Christmasy signature and use it on my posts. I've got a quilt with my name and an angel type thing with my name from a sig. site but would love a Christmasy one but just cannot figure it out yet. Oh well.

I'm not up to anything except going to bed. But, then, I've been up since 3:00 AM with NO NAP! I got a lot done today though.

The ambulance picked up a nine-year-old girl from across the street tonight. I don't know if she has the flu or she got hurt somehow, but they took her to the hospital. Please keep her in your prayers. I don't know her name, she was visiting her Grandmother.

My two grandsons are doing much better. Thanks for your prayers Diane. This flu is scary!

I am making turtles tomorrow in the microwave and possibly the peanut brittle. Still have to make chocolate-covered pretzels and cookies w/marshmallows, chocolate, and vanilla wafers. THEN I can start on my sugar cookies!!!

Pleasant dreams all!

Again, find myself talking solo, so will call it an early night and turn in. Watching the "Alamo" documentary on the History Channel, but it's sure not the quality of Ken Burns' work.

Heading off to lala land!

Mornin' Sue!! The wind here last nite was strong!! But its calm out now---feels good!! I spent the day yesterday at Baptist Hospital in Jackson---as you go into the lobby on the left hand side there is a small coffee shop with a few chairs and little tables set up---I always get me a cup for the "ride home!!"---anyway--Blackbird saw you guys there yesterday!!!

Good Morning Blackbird and Gib!

Gib: A Chunnel is the underwater tunnel used to cross the Channel. Sheila was quite concerned (as I would be) to travel in it instead of flying or taking a boat.

I have received beautiful cards from several of the BB members. I sent homemade, personalized Christmas cards to the BB members that I had snail mail addresses for. :D

Blackbird: I thought that was you at the CH, but you swooped in and out so fast I didn't have a chance to say 'hi'.

Good Morning Gib, Blackbird and Sue! The sky looks heavy. It's 32° with a wind chill of 28° so I'm up and about with a lot of my things already done in case we get snow!

Glad to see you all this morning. I hope everyone is keeping well and away from the flu!

GIB.... watch out my friend. I read that Augusta is hard hit AGAIN with the flu and that isn't THAT far from you. We're avoiding crowds and malls, etc., washing our hands a lot and trying to be careful. Did you get a flu shot?

BLACKBIRD.... hope your day at the hospital was an elderly church member who is on the mend! You'll need to get extra careful about the flu too!

SUE.... around all those kids! Hopefully the winter wind will kill or blow away any flu germs you're exposed to. Did you find some velcro for your scarf?

Time for more tea!

Good Morning Diane!

I didn't get any velcro yet. I will just tie it in back until I do.

Some of the boys who cross at my corner are still wearing those knee-length shorts! No hat, gloves, etc., coat hanging open! They think it's 'cool' looking!

One boy yesterday had the shorts on under sweats and he pulled the sweats down around his ankles and walked (like a penquin) for four blocks that way! I knew he was just looking for attention so I made no comment.

Time to get bundled up and go face the ravages of nature.

Will be baking when I get back home, but will pop in from time to time.

Try to keep warm! I guess the hot oven and baking will get you all warm once you get home. Still not one flake here.

Thanks Sue, a chunnel must be a churning tunnel. Maybe that's what Sheila's stomach is doing.

Diane, No flu shot here. We did here that 2 folks in Jacksonville are contaminated.

It's rainy and cold here. Don't mind the cold, but the rain can go away.
