Well, I had lost 20 pounds, but I gained eight pounds back over the holidays.

I have lost two of those and will continue to lose the other six and then I will work on losing 15 more...then I will be satisfied!

My goal from the beginning was to lose 35-40 pounds. If I keep cooking low carb, I should make that by Spring. :D

Fabulous, Sue! The holidays weren't that far back, and you are already losing. Funny -- the losers in this game are the real winners! :-D

Steady as you go. Slow loss equals permanent loss.

Well, cruising took a toll on my diet. 10 meals a day, 24-hour pizza, 24-hour room service, breakfast in cabin on the balcony -- ah, you get the pix.

So will start tomorrow - January 20 back on a regimine. Not the South Beach - while I lost on it, the diet messed my system up too badly to be worth it.

So dinners with 10 jumbo shrimp appetizer, 4 lobster tail dipped in clarified butter, cateaubriand, filet mignon, prime rib and a host of decadent chocolate desserts will probably NOT be on my menu.

Get out the chunky soup . .

I can have chateaubriand, filet mignon and prime rib on my diet. I just can't afford them! :(

    Amen, Sue, amen!

The former president of the company my wife worked for would send each person in the office a package of Omaha Steaks about twice a year. OOOOOOH!!! Were they great. Cost a fortune, but great.

The company forced him to retire a couple of years or so ago, and my wife is now a stay-at-home mom, but, man, I miss those steaks!!!

    In Christ,
    Trotter

    Hey Trotter!

We always go out on our anniversary (Valentine's Day) and have a prime rib dinner.

Other than that, I buy rib eyes when they are on sale, but $3.99 a pound is about as cheap as they get.

So, I am patiently waiting for [IMG]

If you like to eat high quality food for really cheap, then cruising is your oyster.

Choices this week for main entrees would include:
    </font>
    • Beef each night
New York Strip Steak - offered every night as "alternative" (if you didn't like one of the 5 main entrees)
      Prime Rib
      Filet Mignon
      Top Sirloin
      Chateubriand
      Beef Wellington</font>
    • Fish/seafood each night
      Lobster
      Escargot
      Shrimp in a dozen varieties
Fresh catch each day - usually pan fried, baked, blackened, etc
      Clams
      Crayfish (etoufee and in pasta)
      Salmon/Char</font>
    • Alternative meats each night included
      Rack of lamb
      Lamb chops
      Virginia baked ham</font>
    • Poultry for the unimaginative
      Cornish game hens
      Duck
      Pheasant
Chicken every night in some form was offered
      Utrkey</font>
    • Vegetarian/healthy stuff every night</font>
    • Pasta type main course, too</font>
And THAT is just in the formal dining room. But these were all $35-75 dinners MINIMUM at a land restaurant, including soup, appetizers, dessert and you get them 7 nights in a row.

    Cruising AIN'T for dieting!

Micah.....set a time each day to use it and don't let ANYTHING interfere with it! Good luck!

Dr. Bob! If I ate everything I like on that menu, I would have to stay in the middle of the ship. If I went to the either side, the ship would list.

One of the stats was the use of 42,000 large or jumbo shrimp during our ONE WEEK!

And, no, not just for me -- or the ship would have been listing!

Hi I have just come in on your site. I have just completed a weight watchers diet ( now a life time member)I lost 38 lbs. Their new program is a lot more user friendly. You count points not calories ( they have a point finder) and you can eat whatever ,as long as you stick to your point allowance, but of course you would want to eat "good" things but can also have sweets too. Losing weight is not easy, but we have to learn to make it a lifetime change to keep it off-I am hoping to do so. Hope to enjoy being with you-sorry this is long!

Hi Sally and welcome to the All Other Discussions Forum! Come on up to the Coffee House and visit with us......that's where we just chat and get to know each other.

That's great about the weight you lost. Most of us here are doing the Atkins diet and some are on a diabetic diet.

Don't worry about your post being long. You should see some of mine! [IMG]

WEll, I have been doing the Atkins diet for almost 3 weeks now, and I have STILL only lost 10 pounds. My mother, who is physically inactive due to back probs, lost 12 in the first week!! And she didnt follow it strictly. I dont know what I am doing wrong. So what has been your experience - all you Atkinzers????

Tater: Don't get discouraged! The slower you lose it, the longer you will keep it off. 10 pounds in three weeks is not bad.

Try measuring inches instead of pounds. Sometimes we seem to hit a plateau on the pounds, but we are still losing inches...

Do you eat at night? I do not eat anything after 7:00 PM and I drink a LOT of water all day. Also, I cook all low carb recipes. I have not bought anything "Atkins". I just watch my carbs.

Just hang in there. It will get better! [IMG]
