After private counsel with Clint Kritzer the moderator of this forum, I wish to express and offer my apologies to BornBaptist for offending him in any way.

But I still don't view this Movie as anything remotely Christian.
BornBaptist -
The pain, scourging, crucifixion, death and resurrection are not remotely Christian?

[/QB]
Yeah, It's a great witnessing tool, if your preaching another Christ, like the great whore of Revelation 17, AKA The Roman Catholic Church.
BornBaptist [/QB]
Whoa, Brother! The Christ my church preaches is the one who gave Himself as a ransom for our sins! Son of God, Son of Man, God in the flesh. The two who were saved were able to visualize the sufferings of our Lord through the medium of film, and as a result, their hearts were softened enough to allow the Holy Spirit to lead them to the altar and accept Christ's sacrifice! Please refrain from insenuating my church preaches or teaches false doctrine! The film portrayed exactly what it set out to do. It showed the hateful, humiliating abuse Christ suffered for you and me. In Christ, WT -

But the films addition of the scenes of events that were not in The Bible void the movie of ANY legitimacy.
Like I said before, If you're going to tell the story, tell the right one. Not the Roman Catholic Church's version.
I said it before and I'll say it again, The Movie is, in fact, based on a 17'th century mistic nuns, so called "vision" of the sufferings of Christ.
I cannot, for the life me, figure why that it is so hard for you to comprehend that!

Anyhow, I think it's pointless to argue this with you, because you fail to see my point of view and me sitting her arguing this point isn't going to change your point of view, nor is it going to help you understand my point of view.
No sense in arguing with someone who doesn't want to understand.

I think both positions have been adequately expressed, gentlemen. Let's not let this escalate again, please.
Gershom, your apology on page 3 was a good start and I, personally, appreciate it.
BornBaptist, your position on the movie has been posted well and affirmed by a few other participants.
Now that the two of you have agreed that further discussion between the two of you on this issue is pointless, it may be in the best interest of the board if you simply agree to disagree. -
Born Baptist, I do agree totally that Revelation Chapter 17 refers to the Catholic church. Maybe not the Catholic church of today, maybe so, but it is definitely on its way there. I did buy the movie the first day it was out on DVD. I noticed that it had a Catholic slant, but no one was praying to Mary, or confessing to a priest, or saying hail mary in the movie. I am glad that the story of Jesus dying for our sins on the cross is out there in the mainstream media. I'm not sure about it being a great witnessing tool. Maybe so, maybe not. I would think that a nonbeliever would be absolutely clueless and/or questioning quite a bit of the film. I liked it. It was the most emotionally intense thing I have ever seen.

Lets have a look at what the fruits are of "The Passion". There are testimonies all over the web of people that have been born again after seeing it, one brother even comments that this has been the case in his church on the first page of this thread.
Secondly for the first time in many arab nations, muslims have been shown that Jesus died on the cross for them. A number of muslims teach that Jesus did not die on the cross and that his place was taken by another. Resultingly many arab newspapers have been full of Christianity and what it is all about and the churches are packed to boot.
Looks like this film is being used to further the Gospel on the basis of results if you ask me. Furthermore let us suppose that any one of us was asked to write the script for the Passion. Do you really think that your finished product would not have other Evangelical Christians Sledging your version of events? Such is the nature of people. -

Wow. After reading all the posts and seeing how my post was used over and over again. I have something simple to say.
The movie depicted Christ praying in the garden, it depicted peter cutting off an ear, and then Jesus healing it. It depicted him having a false trial 4 times (one in the temple, 2 with pilate and once with herod). It depicted him beaten, it depicted him harassed, hurt, bloody. It depicted him crucified. On the Cross, the thief's coversion, SHOWED that that was the way to get to heaven.
Born usually you and I agree on must subjects. I'm sorry that this movie has effected you in such a way to make you so angry. I'll be praying for your anger to lift. We all love you, you know. And we are human. Mel Gibson is human. And, in that we are all flawed. None of us are righteous. Not ONE. Sometimes we all get it wrong. It's how we are and our nature.
Have a good Day!

Gershom,
You are indeed a person desiring to follow the Lord as you were willing to publicly apologize to Born Baptist. Thank you brother for your willingness to do so.
Born Baptist you brought a filthy mouth to a public discussion on this board. You still have not publicly repented of your foul language, and have just continued on. It is time for you to do this. You sinned in public now it is time to repent in public. I went to your website and by your own rules there you would not allow what you did on this website. While I may agree as to the RCC influence in the movie passion, you took your passion beyond allowable Christian discourse.
