No worries, I understand brother :)

Some Independent Baptist churches are ok with different translations, Some are ADAMANTLY OPPOSED and will kick you out for bringing in a "Devil's version" of the Bible. Some think that the KJV is doubly inspired and that it clears up any miss understandings in the Greek/Hebrew copies.

From where I sit, I can spy HCSBs, KJVs, a NIV, a NKJV, a RSV, my phone which has the LEB, and a UBS 5th ed. NT.

Variety is the spice of life.

Think that the Esv is abetter version for you to use, as you have a hard time with Kjv, but be prepared to have lot of flack from thoe stuck on KJVO!

If you want to use a more contemporary version that may be closer to the KJV and thus easier to follow along during teaching and preaching services you might try the NKJV.

Or, even better, if you use a electronic device in church try the WEB. It is only available in electronic format but is an excellent translation and will make it easier to follow along.

I agree with this suggestion. The NKJV sounds a lot like the KJV but without the archaic language.

My progression was KJVO, then KJV, then NKJV, now I mostly read the NIV.

Really good suggestion! This way you can track with the pastor but have it in a little bit more contemporary wording. :)

Too bad not to be found, but 1967 Scofield was best fo this, as had word changes in margins!
So had "real" Kjv, with suggested word changes!

R.L. Allan is a publisher of high-quality Bibles in several versions.

While I use mostly the ESV, you might take a look at the Lexham English Bible. I'm liking it more and more; the ESV and the Lexham are the ones I alternate using on YouVersion and e-Sword.

So, just a publisher. Thanks. I thought it sounded like some kind of study Bible.

I'm liking the LEB a lot. Wish it came in paper book form :) ESV still my primary translation.

Not just a publisher but the maker of probably some of the finest Bibles out there. My husband got one for his ordination as a gift from the church. That Bible is gorgeous! I ride horses so know good leather (saddles are worth thousands of dollars) and this Bible smells as good as my saddle. :D
