Baptist Church Ordains Omarosa Manigault, Former Star of TV's Celebrity Apprentice
after serving as an assistant pastor at her home church—the Weller Street Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California—for about a year. Manigault was unanimously approved to become a reverend by the ordination committee in a vote held at Weller Street church in mid-February.
The newly-minted reverend said of her ordination: "This is the day that the Lord has made, I truly rejoice and am glad it is! This was one of the most profound days of my life and my ministry. How amazing I feel to serve God

Interesting. How common is it for a Baptist church to ordain a woman?

It isn't nor will it likely ever be. Baptist churches remain fairly conservative and grounded except for these few.

Hopefully one day the subjugation of women in Baptist churches will go the way of slavery. But what a tragic loss from now until then.

Hopefully one day some will refrain from false and hyperbolic language to discuss things others disagree with.

Good for her! Praise the Lord. :godisgood:
And kudos to that trailblazing Baptist church. May God keep them strong and at peace when the inevitable troublemakers try to give them a hard time.

Well, there will always be those churches that don't follow God's Word and it's a shame.
But what they do is not up to me.
There are MANY churches going away from the Word and what's important is to make sure that what goes on under MY roof holds firm to Scripture.
If that were my church, I'd not be there next Sunday.

In black Baptist churches it is quite common.

And if it were my church, I wouldn't be sorry to see you go, or anyone else hindering the Gospel from being spread by those called to do so.

God doesn't go against His Word.
He does not call women to be pastors.

You just can't take a different view. It threatens you deeply. And drives you to this rudeness. Sad

It will be as common as ordaining an African-American pastor during my lifetime.
Hopefully one day, there will be roughly as many female pastors as male pastors.
We need their voices and perspectives.
Amen.
Hello pot? This is Amanda. You're black.
Amen. Hopefully many will follow.

How are they going away from the Word? Marrying homosexuals? People and dogs?

According to annsi 2:22, huh?
I'm so glad you can speak for God. Now I can just come here and ask you when I am wondering about something.
Actually, God does call women to be pastors, and I know many who listened to and followed that call and have brought lots of lost sheep into the kingdom. And just think -- all without the permission of those who presume to know God's mind and speak for Him on the issue.

This sarcasm is more evidence that you are threatened by opposing views.

How was what I said any more rude than what she said? I think it's you and people like you who are threatened.
I still say that if someone like that wanted to leave my church, I'd say good riddance and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Actually, it is evidence that I am repulsed by religious bigotry and making women second class Christians whose duty is to serve male chauvinists.
