Two Santa Clauses or How The Republican Party Has Conned America for Thirty Years

    by Thom Hartmann

This weekend, House Republican leader John Boehner played out the role of Jude Wanniski on NBC's "Meet The Press."

Odds are you've never heard of Jude, but without him Reagan never would have become a "successful" president, Republicans never would have taken control of the House or Senate, Bill Clinton never would have been impeached, and neither George Bush would have been president.

It was Reagan's wit, stance on the issues, & the way he carried out business that made him successful.

If it wasn't for Bill Clinton, The Republicans wouldn't have had control of Congress & the Senate in 1994. He set the bar pretty low.

Again, If it wasn't for Bill Clinton, he wouldn't have been impeached. If I'm not mistaken he was the only president who lied under oath & didn't get punished for it. He was responsible for causing the investigation by Kenneth Starr. All he had to do was tell the truth (which is what he swore to do) & there would have been no impeachment trial, which would have saved the tax payers money.

Interesting article ... thanks for posting it. I expect you are going to get a lot of flack over this one. Watch out for the cyber-rocks they will throw.

Somewhere around 2003 or 2004 I heard this same basic idea discussed. The logic was if Bush runs up the debt high enough then the Democrats will be strapped and cannot introduce new programs and will have to raise taxes to start paying off the debe. This will make them look bad in the eyes of the public and the Republicians will gain political control again.

I guess no one gets the fact that when we run out of money, the government prints more of it or we borrow from the Chinese and Arabs. Ya can't blame all of it on the Repubs, there was a Democratic controlled congress for how long?

What I recently heard: If all the foreign countries who have loaned the US money called their loans, the US economy would collapse within 1 hour. Think about that one when you put your head on the pillow at night. Got a plan B, Congress and Obama?

This article tells it like it is. Ronald Reagan swept into office promising to reduce the size of government and reduce the debt. In fact, he did the exact opposite.
