Haven't asked this in a while, but what are your preaching plans for the next few months?
I am doing a 4 week series on Abraham. Then in October and November, I'll probably begin a series going through Mark's Gospel.
What are you all doing?
What are you preaching?

Todays message was "Dare to be a Disciple" Luke 10.
Next week, I am thingking about preaching on the Tower of Bable.
Since, I was just voted in as pastor, yesterday, I have not made any long term plans - yet. -
Sunday AM - started today a series today called "Responding to Religious Rhetoric" - a contemplative approach designed to counter the reactionary fear-mongering so popular in Christian circles today. Typically I use the Lectionary on Sunday mornings
Sunday PM - Romans
Wednesday - "Great Chapters of the Bible" - highlighting 44 chapters I think are important for all believers to know. -
I am going to start a thread about the messages that pastors concentrated on in the their first 6 months of coming to a new church. Might be interesting. -

Sunday AM's, beginning the book of Colossians.
About to finish James on Sunday evenings. Not sure exactly where we're going next.
I love to go verse-by-verse through books of the bible. -

I just finished a series from 1 Corinthians - and was condemned by some as "teaching" instead of preaching... ugh... Apparently some don't like preaching through a book of the Bible.
My answer - I don't pick what I preach, I do what God lays on my heart. -
The Tower of Babble or the Tower of Babel?
Of course with either one you could emphasize the confusion of tongues! -
Of course I'm not preaching but I WILL be running the computer if needed. :D
But hubby's plan for the next three weeks is:
Oct 10, 2010

Ordinary Me?
We’re all ordinary/but look what happens when we're filled with God's Spirit
I Samuel 16:1-13 (esp 13)

God works thru Ordinary People
Extraordinary God
God did it - The extraordinary one is always God
I Samuel 17
Oct 24, 2010
Testimonies
Meet some ordinary people
Acts 4:13
Our new church's .... "theme" or whatever you want to call it (it's under the logo) is "Ordinary People, Extraordinary God" so he's doing the series on that and using David for illustration. -
A series called "Your Money Matters" (yes I KNOW the title has been used to death but I tried)

Ps. 49- riches – 10/3
Ps. 116- Tithe- 10/10
Proverbs 3:27–35-Charity -10/17
Proverbs 6:1–5-Debt 10/24
....and I got away with tithe yesterday...amazing  -
I started a series last week from 1 chapter books of the Bible
Did Philemon last Sunday and talked about reconciling wrong doers with those they have wronged and ended speaking about how this is exactly what Jesus did.
This week we are in Jude and will deal with those who deny the truth and how to live out the truth in a pagan world.
In weeks to come we will be in Obadiah, 2 John and 3 John. -

In the A.M. service, we are continuing our verse by verse exposition of Mark's Gospel.
In the P.M., we are going through Philippians verse by verse.
In our Wed. night Bible Study, we are looking at the seven churches of the Revelation (just did Pergamum). -
That's one of the reasons I started the thread so we can get ideas from each other. We're not copying a sermon or preaching someone else's. After 12 years here I am always looking for new ways of looking at sermons or passages. -
I'm not preaching on a regular basis right now, but I do need to prepare two sermons for resume purposes.
One will be:
"The Immutable God--Big Word, Big God!"
The other:
"Heaven"
Anyone have an open pulpit somewhere around the Louisville, KY area? I'd love to get one of these on video. It is difficult these days to submit a resume without a DVD and most of the churches I've served as preaching pastor simply didn't have the capability to do a quialty recording. -
I was just joking about the theft.
I was not, however, joking about what a great idea your sermon series is. -
continuing through the book of Revelation.
-
Chapter 9 of Rev. is where I am... continuing through Rev and then switching up and preaching on the full armor followed by spiritual battle. then back to book by book studies.
-
Hubby's new series until Christmas is "The God Question". He's asking people "If you could ask God any question and be guaranteed an answer, what would it be" and he'll be addressing those questions. Should be interesting!
