Oh, my. Look around. Shake your head up and down.
In the context of the parable (wheat growing nicely but Satan planted weeds to permeate the field) and then its interpretation, tucked right in the middle, is the story of leaven.
The world has permeated the church. Frightening. Now eventually the Lord will sent the death angels to separate . . but man, try to get leaven out of the wheat once it gets mixed in.
THAT is the progression of the kingdom, according to Jesus.
Sower: Gospel of Kingdom seed sown but not many are truly fruit-bearing plants
Wheat/Weeds: Among the Kingdom’s minority of good wheat are many false plants
Mustard: Kingdom grows but abnormal, hosting all sorts of evil birds in its branches
Leaven: Kingdom is permeated like yeast in dough with evil
Hidden Treasure: Kingdom is discovered by some not even looking
Pearl of Great Price: Kingdom is searched for by diligent and great blessing to find it
Dragnet: Kingdom is ultimately cleansed of all wickedness in awful judgment
