Your always going to find christians who do know about yoga and approve it anyway. As if the spiritual realm does not exist.
Why would christians want to participate in a pagan religion, why would they try to make a pagan religion look and sound christian? This is a trap of satan. He's been imitating God and His works since the garden, his imitations never give what they promise, never compare with the true God. -

Couldn't someone divorce all the spooky stuff from the physical stretching and bending? That might not be "yoga" in the traditional Indian sense but you could still reap the benefits of the physical workout, I would think.

Those positions done in yoga have religeous spiritual meaning, again pagan meaning. If people are interested in stretchng and excerise theres plenty more spiritually safe excerises out there. Yago is not necessary.

I'll be back with more, still working on it.

Pagan religion is still pagan religion no matter what you call it. There's nothing that says a person has to be familiar with and well versed in a false religion to actually participate in it.

LOL, I agree DHK.
Why do we as christiasn think we need these things in our lives? -

Donna, DHK,
Do I understand you to say that physical motions in and of themselves, without conscious spiritual intent, can still have spiritual significance?
If someone with no knowledge of Yoga unknowingly does some kind of Yoga motion - will they have unknowingly invoked some kind of pagan demon or power? -
-
Yoga movements and positions have spiritual meaning and purpose. Don't ask me why, since I don't study and do yoga I don't know. You aren't likely to accidently preform these positions, unless your plain odd.
Whens the last time you did this,

Sorry if I duplicated any pictures.
Do you really think anyone will accidently preform one of these positions? No, yoga positions are done with intent. -
I've done very similar stretches to a couple of those images, but I am pretty ignorant of any of the spiritual reasons. -

From what I understand about Indian religion and health is that spirituality and action are very hand in hand. Sure their great streatching exercises but with the understand that not only are you balancing out your body but spirit as well. Not very far off from the Greek beliefs about the humors. Just thinking.

A bunch of guys just played broom ball last weekend, and I spent most of Saturday doing all sorts of goofy stretches to try and work out the soreness! -
We all need to go back to walking and the good old horseback riding! Hey, even Jesus did it and will do it again! If THAT isn't an endorsement, I don't know what is. ;)
And, no - you don't just sit on a horse and let him do all the work. Trust me. :D -
