I call the Baptist teaching a cult because it teaches that healing miracles have ceased. Yet Jesus never taught that they would cease and neither did his disciples. Paul said that false Christians would have a form of religion but deny the power of God. Jesus said to the Jews, " You search the scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life, but you neither know the scriptures or the power of God. Same is true with most of the posters here.
So I said you were preaching another Gospel and were a cult based on what Jesus taught and the disciples taught. Then you delete my post and threaten banning.
You can call Benny Hinn everything in the book and the post remains but when someone calls you on the error you teach that dishonors Jesus and bam delete the thread as NOT ALLOWED.
Ban me according to scripture I'm already in trouble for being here. It says if anyone preaches another Gospel other than what we preached let them be accursed. Do not even entertian such a person.
Whatever YAWN
You call Benny Hinn a cult

Off with his head....Burn him at the stake...he seems pretty much bent on becoming a martyr whether he really is or not.

I think we're dealing with a kid here. Very immature and very unChrist like in his posts. :(

I moved this to a non-Baptist forum (Other Religions/Doctrines). I apologize in advance to our friends on this forum that will have to put up with such a persona.

OK, I'll bite (against my better judgement).
The first is that the perpetuity of the gifts vs cessation of the gifts is a non-essential of the faith and one that believers have the liberty to disagree over, so you can't say that a Christian group is a "cult" because they disagree about a non-essential. Now, if they were heterodox in their teaching on the essentials, then you might have a point.
Now, I'm not aware of anyone calling Hinn a "cult", but most Christians do consider him a false teacher.
This is because of, among other reasons, (a) his taching hat our atonement wasn't purchased on the cross but as a result of a sinful Jesus having to atone in Hell (commonly known as the "born again Jesus" heresy), (b)his teaching that there are nine members of the Godhead and (c) his teaching that we are gods and that we are to call him "Benny Jehovah".
All of these are essentials of the faith and not only affect the efficacy of the Christian faith because they directly contradict scripture, but can adversely someone's eternal destiny (i.e. "Hell").
The second is that you say baptists with a capital "B", as though you're making a blanket statement that covers all baptists.
Do you know that there are about a billion different denominations of baptists and even more baptist churches that operate independently of any denomination?
The truth is that there are a lot of baptist who do believe in the perpetuity of the gifts and even more who believe in the perpetuity of the gifts, but merely disagree with the way that they're commonly practiced in the church today.
Actually, if we look at this in it's proper context, we see that it isn't speaking of spiritual gifts at all, rather of those who have a said faith rather than a saving faith.
In other words, those who claim to be Christians but have denied the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit.
Actually, we can see from context that Jesus is rebuking them for not recognizing Him as Messiah. it has nothing to do with spiritual gifts.

What I can't figure out is why someone who's so upset at the Baptists, and even goes so far as to call the Baptists a cult...would label him/herself a Baptist in their profile....

Some interesting thoughts on Benny's teaching from a poster on another board I post on:
-
I see acording to your profile you are a member of what you consider a cult.
-
But then if your not a memebr of the baptist cult then you aren't allowed to post in the baptist only area.

Whether you're a cessationist or a charismatic has no bearing on whether or not you are saved; it is no prerequisite for salvation. I'm mildly charismatic, am no cessationist and have even been known to turn up at charismatic church services, but I have no doubt that Benny Hinn is either deceived or deceiving; what he teaches goes to the heart of Who God is, Jesus' sacrifice and its consequences, and how we are saved.
Yours in Christ

Is Benny Hinn a false prophet? Jesus said to beware of false prophets.
Having watched this guy, I am convinced that he is a plant from India, and I have clearly detected mystic Hinduism and Yoga in his teaching. Nine members in the godhead is a start, and he teaches that the way to fulfill Romans 12:1 2 is to eat oatmeal, yogurt, and a banana a day NO meat. Honest, friends, my whole family saw it on his TV program. Even his head movements and his hand gestures are distinctly Indian from India. I grew up with Indians as neighbors. You who have lived in India, check it out on his next TV show.
Benny Hinn has said that if anybody criticizes him he wants, "to get a Holy Ghost machine gun and blow their head off!" Quoted from John MacArthur

Now, Jesus endured the cross and looked towards the cross by the power of the Holy Ghost.... And here's something that's amazing. Paul! He was kept sinless by the Spirit. Because the Bible says He offered Himself spotless through the Spirit. Watch this, it's right here. "How much more shall the blood of Christ Who, through the eternal Spirit, offered Himself without spot." So had the Holy Ghost not been there, then Jesus would have sinned. Now I know, some of the, well
Paul Crouch: The heretic hunters.
Benny Hinn: Some won't like it, but it's in the Bible.
Paul Crouch: Yes, it is. I've never heard that.
Benny Hinn: The Holy Spirit is the One Who kept Christ sinless. Because without the Holy Spirit,
Christ would have sinned. And remember something: the devil would not have tempted Him had he thought that Jesus could not sin....
Paul Crouch: He wouldn't have bothered.
Benny Hinn: Exactly. The devil would not have tempted Christ had Christ
Jan Crouch: Not been able to sin.
Benny Hinn: Not been able to. In fact, if Jesus could not sin, you and I could not have identified with
Him.....
Benny Hinn: He offered Himself without spot to God through the eternal Spirit. It's right there. You
can't argue with it. And anybody that thinks Jesus could not sin, you haven't read the Bible right,
because the Bible says He was tempted in all points. (Praise The Lord, Trinity Broadcasting Network, April 24, 1998)
HINN SAYS DEAD WILL BE RAISED TO LIFE AT TV SETS
Late Dec. 1999
"Charismatic leader Benny Hinn on Paul & Jan Crouch's TBN said people are going to be raised from the dead watching TBN. He said 'People are going to be canceling funeral services and bringing their dead in their caskets, placing them before a TV set, waiting for God's power to touch them.' He said they would be raised from the dead by the thousands (11/22 Chr. News)...Hinn...has left his Orlando church and moved to Dallas. In Jan. he breaks ground for a $30 $35 million Healing Center in Dallas, which will operate 24 hours a day when opened in 2001." (THE CALVARY CONTENDER, VOL. XVI NO. 24, December 15, 1999)

Benny Hinn also changes his teaching when someone calls him on it. He's had to backpeddle several times on the "Nine-fold Holy Spirit" and such. Kinda like the Mormon revisions of their holy book every few years...

I watched on tv when benny healed this lady--she had one deaf ear and benny blew in that particular ear---lands sake, my wife won't let me do that much less benny---anyway, to prove she was healed--he had her put her finger in the "good" ear while he spoke into her "healed" ear--and sure enuff . . .!
Beats all I've ever seen! Really!!

Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland and other WOrd of Faith Teachers all have an open invitation to come on to the John Ankerberg show and explain their teaching in contrast to scripture. Yet none of these teachers are ever available to come. I wonder why? Surely any of these would be keen to have any of their teaching checked against Scripture.
