Let's have a little fun with this post. It would be neat to know what kind of Christian music, or genre YOU enjoy.
Is it Country Gospel? Contemporary? The Gaithers? That old time Gospel Hour music? Christian Rap? Christian folk music? Classical Christian and hymns? Christian Rock? The Imperials? The Isaac's? Vince Gill? The Sons of the Pioneers? Reba McEntire? Tennessee Ernie Ford? Michael W. Smith? Bebe and Cece? Alison Krauss? Amy Grant? The Happy Goodman's? Randy Travis? Dolly Parton?...
The phrase, "Dead in sin and trespasses..." seems to cause some level of consternation here on the board in some circles, particularly those of the un-named theology group, but also some in the libertarian free will camp and those who hold Arminian theology.
The phrase is lifted directly from Ephesians 2:1, rendered below:
New International Version (©1984)
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
English Standard Version (©2001)
And you were dead in the...
Some here on the board are very open in their adoption of libertarian free will.
Others do not see eye-to-eye with libertarian free will as commonly expressed by the first group mentioned above.
One of the questions concerning libertarian free will (if it should exist as suggested) is what are its limits, or are there limits to free will?
What say the persons holding a free will perspective? Limits or not? Please justify your response in some fashion instead of making "I think...
I was in the Local Lifeway bookstore Saturday and inquired if they would have Rob Bells book Tuesday. Their reply way "no but we will order it for anyone who wishes a copy". I plan on reading it along with my pastor. Out of curiosity how many of you brothers and sisters plan on reading it?
Calvinists deny the validity of conditional election on these grounds:
(1) Because of the Calvinist’s acceptance of their doctrine of Total Spiritual Inability, they say man is incapable of the faith needed for God to use it as satisfying His conditional for election to salvation.
(2) Saving faith, faith satisfying God’s supposed conditional, is a gift God gives to the previously chosen person.
(3) Faith is a work and therefore cannot be a conditional for a salvation not of works....
I have recently become very interested in learning Greek, specifically Koine Greek. I am 43 years old, have a college degree (20 years ago), but have never studied any foreign language at all.
Is it possible for someone like me to accomplish this? I have been looking at Bill Mounce's program Home | billmounce.com
Anyone have any advice or encouragement?
The title of this thread was supposed to be Romans 8:28-30, can a mod correct this for me??
Disclaimer for my DoG Brethern; I am directing this question towards my FW Brethern, but feel free to join in. The reason why I am directing it this way is because I know y'all will disagree with this analysis, but I don't know if my FW Brethern will agree or disagree with this. I am not 100% dogmatic about this, but the more I study this out, the more I "lean" this way!!
Rom. 8: 28 And we know...
I wasn't sure where this would fit into the other thread going on now, so I'll ask my question in this one.
Hebrews 10:26-29, (NKJV)
For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
but a certain fearful expectation of judgement, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Of how much worse...
