Then, what is the difference between God...
ordaining sin and creating sin and authoring sin and the ultimate cause of sin.
Please focus this thread to this question. Primarily for Calvies
God ordained all that came to pass, therefore:
(1) in some sense then he is the ultimate cause of sin (whether the remote or proximate cause, if that even alleviates the tension)
(2) If he ordained it and is the ultimate cause of sin, what is the difference then saying he scripted (as in authored) it?
(3) If he is the author of sin, then is he... -
The wilderness journey as an example
The Old Testament is written for our learning
For "whatsoever things were written aforetime (Old Testament) were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." (Rom.15:4) Furthermore "brethren (saints, men and women) I would not that ye should be ignorant how...all these things (that happened to the children of Israel) happened unto them for "ensamples."1 ( "types"- models, sketchy outlines. Does it Really Matter Who Wins in November?
As a believer, we are supposed to be trusting God for everything, so will it really matter who wins in November? After all, the POTUS is mostly a figurehead in a government that is built upon the Separation of Powers Act, so the three branches: Judicial, Executive and Legislative are in place to provide a check-and-balance system that holds this country together and assures that no one branch gets out-of-control.

Do you attend a "Full Gospel" Church?
With gifts in operation? -
Do you hold the Bible as Inerrant/inspired/infallible?
Is that essential doctrine? -
Charismatic Errors Listed
The Charismatic movement has so many errors of doctrine and practice that if I were one I'd call myself something different. Now, not all Charismatics believe all of these, I admit. I also admit that there are true believers in the Charismatic movement who are simply deceived. But I think it is important for you BB folk to understand just how wrong and insidious the movement is.
First of all, some background. We should differentiate between the traditional Pentecostal churches and the... -
Calvinists... do you have a problem with the concept that God is the ultimate...
cause of sin???
In dealing with the problem of evil, I've heard it argued from the Calvinist point of view that God's design of a world of sin and in need of redemption is the way he can demonstrate his own righteousness, love, and wrath; without the presence of sin this would be impossible to understand and appreciate. (cf. Rom. 3:5; 5:8; and 9:22)
2 passages stuck out in my mind in my recent Bible reading:
• Prov. 16:4 – The LORD has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked... -
Essentials of the faith
I wonder if we might come to a consensus on what are the essentials of the faith. What would you list as the things necessary to be believed in order to call yourself a Christian? Do you think the Apostles Creed is a sufficient statement of the Christian faith?
