About to hit the fan in the SBC
This statement: "A Statement of the Traditional Southern Baptist Understanding of God’s Plan of Salvation" was just released and buzzing around the SBC world. Pretty bad display of Calvinism. Any thoughts here?

Error, Cult. Cultic
I understand that Christians can hold a diverse understanding, opinion, and interpretation regarding some topics. Also, that there are some fundamental essentials that unite those who hold various views in Christ.
Some churches teach doctrine which is contrary to my belief and I hold that they teach in error. These are differences that have nothing to do with salvation as described in Scripture. Others hold views that I believe are erroneous while advocating a certain amount of... -
Is God the Cause of sin and evil in the world ?
The answer to the question is absolutely Yes ! All things are made or created for God's good pleasure Rev 4:11
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
If we believe in the True and Living God, then we ought know He is the First Cause of all causes.
He created the devil for His Pleasure and ordained his activities, He created Adam for His pleasure and ordained his activities and... -
Is Debating a sin?
We've been studying Ephesians in our Wed Eve Bible Study at church and last evening we looked at Eph 4: 29-31. As we were reading and discussing the question came to me, is debating a sin?
Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath,... -
John MacArthur's eschatology book
I ordered a copy of John's book entitled The Second Coming and anxiously await its arrival. Has anyone read it and what are your thoughts? Perhaps finishing this one may lead me to buy his book on Revelation (because the time is near), or his 2 book commentary on Revelation, however I'd prefer his single volume because the time is near instead. David Jeremiah is another excellent author, however for the most part he does not seem to be as deep as John, however his commentary on the book of... -
Divine Foreknowledge: Circumstances, Possibilities, Volitional Options and Truth
Maybe contrasting your view with mine may help deliver the meaning of my question. I think we both would agree that God cannot believe a false belief, correct? That is to say, He cannot believe something that is not true.
In my view, it is true that I have several options at some future moment that I am yet to experience, possibilities if you will, this is a true statement. God knows these options/possibilities and God knows these possibilities as truly existing. At creation these very... -
A closer look at "baptizo"
Baptizo
to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk)
to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water, to wash one's self, bathe
to overwhelm
“Before the emergence of the holiness movement in the mid 19th century and Pentecostalism in the early 20th century,
most denominations believed that Christians received the baptism with the Holy Spirit either upon conversion and regeneration or through rites of Christian initiation. Since the... -
Another Catholic question- Pope
In the book I am currently reading the author made the statement that the Pope is not perfect, faultless, or sinless, but no Pope in the history of Popes has ever taught Heresy.
Obviously many on here disagree with that. I'm looking for verifiable examples that I can research. I'm trying to get it settled in my own mind once and for all as to who is teaching truth. The Catholic Church or Protestants. -
Does God show partiality?
Acts 10:34 - So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality,
Romans 2:11 - For God shows no partiality.
Galatians 2:6 - And from those who seemed to be influential (what they were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality)—those, I say, who seemed influential added nothing to me.
Ephesians 6:9 - Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master1 and yours is in heaven, and that there is no...
