To spank or not to spank?

    Let's have at it!

Should you spank your children? What age should you start, what age should you stop?

Whatever position you take, do you believe the other side to be in disobedience to scripture, or is it a personal decision each parent (or couple) has to make?

(I have a 19-month old boy and a 3-week old girl...The boy gets spanked for disobedience, and has been since around 9-10 mos. old...the girl does not get spanked)

    Arminian View Consequentially Different?

I am not intending to adamantly make a truth claim, but this represents my understanding of the traditional Arminian view. Please offer your amendments or corrections to the framework below. I have presented my case in two different views, the first in narrative form and the other in a crude attempt at formalized sentential logic.

    Narrative:
If God, to some extent has given man a contra-causal ability to act and God has granted man the ability to choose between God given options then...

I'm 17 yrs postdoctoral Ed.D. in higher education

    Either .... Or

Listen, I hear a several Calvinists attempt to maintain that men do make a choice, but this seems to just be some kind of subtle attempt to maintain some form of human culpability.
EITHER God makes the choice as to what individuals will certainly be saved,

    OR...

God chose to permit men to freely respond to his appeal for reconciliation.

I do not see how one can claim both of these are true as some attempt to do. If the former is true then what is the point in even pretending...

    No prolonged debate with heretics??

How would you apply these commands by the Apostle to those who you deem to be not merely those confused, learning, or immature but actual heretical teachers???? Is there a point when you should simply refuse to debate them and just sharply rebuke them?

    1 Tim. 5:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and...

New Birth before and Unto Faith !

    New Birth before Faith !
They shall declare His Righteousness Rom 1:17 to a generation that shall be born ! Rom 1:16-17

16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

17For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

    Ps 22:30-31

30A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation....

    Baptists Should Only Marry Baptists

II Corinthians 6:14 tells us not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers, and I would assume that this would especially apply in seeking out a marriage partner.

I once heard a Baptist preacher say something to the effect that born-again Baptists should only marry born-again Baptists.

Do you think he was right?

    Returning to the Biblical Bema

    Returning to the Biblical Bema
    The Judgment Seat of Christ

There are two main ways in which erroneous teachings are introduced into Christianity:
    A. Non-biblical evidence is used to support the novel concept.
    B. The Biblical truth on the subject is suppressed or fragmented.

Many modern teachers have done both of these with their notion of the Bema seat award-judgment. The Biblical information on "Bema" (the Greek word) is suppressed. And appeal is made to non-biblical...

    Pastoral Search & Credit Check???

I would like your opinions and viewpoints on this scenario:

A candidate applies for a Pastor Position. As he goes through the process, it turns out that he is everything (on paper) that the church is looking & praying for in a Pastor except his credit is bad (late payments). Would that be all it takes to kill this potential candidates chance? Or do you think the church would be willing to work with him?

Do any of you know actual situations like this? If so, how did things turn out?...
