    While I was at church we sang a litany of hymns that express the joy of being saved by grace apart from any work of our own doing. I thought it would be good for people to share the songs of grace alone that touch your heart and speak theology to your soul.
    I will start out with the most popular hymn of all time, a good "Calvinist" hymn, Amazing Grace.

    A bit of personal story to this next song, entitled "Heal Us, which was played at my nieces funeral.
    Over the past 7 years God, by his ordained providence, has chosen to bring 7 immediate family members home to glory. Three of these were my brother's children whom God chose to create with a genetic disease (SMA), which is incurable. In our grief we have held firm by God's grace, which dug the foundation of or faith. We pray for God to heal our wounded soul as we "Kiss the wave that tosses us on the Rock of Salvation." Wonderful grace of Jesus,
    Greater than all my sin;
    How shall my tongue describe it,
    Where shall its praise begin?
    Taking away my burden,
    Setting my spirit free;
    For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

    Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus,
    Deeper than the mighty rolling sea;
    Higher than the mountain, sparkling like a fountain,
    All-sufficient grace for even me!
    Broader than the scope of my transgressions,
    Greater far than all my sin and shame;
    Oh, magnify the precious Name of Jesus,
    Praise His Name!

    Here's one that is a song book we use. I don't see it in many other books, and have not heard it used a lot. My Dad use to lead it and it is one of my favorites.

    Only Through Grace, Words and Music by J. P. Lane

    1. Only through grace, O wonderful story!
    Only through grace, prolong the sweet sound!
    Only through grace it echoes in glory!
    Only through grace the lost has been found!
    2. Only through grace our Father in heaven
    Sent His dear Son to die in our place.
    Life and salvation through Him are given--
    Wonderful love, O wonderful grace!
    3. Only through grace we press on our journey
    Kept by the power of God till the end.
    Only through grace we'll enter the portals;
    Then to the Father grace will commend.

    Refrain: Wonderful story, wonderful Saviour!
    Jesus has died and rose from the grace.
    Join the glad chorus, praise Him forever--
    Jesus had died poor sinners to save!

    [I've never found any information on the author, but based on one book it was published in the song was written by 1924.]

    Stanza two:

    Wonderful grace of Jesus,
    Reaching to all the lost,
    By it I have been pardoned,
    Saved to the uttermost;
    Chains have been torn asunder,
    Giving me liberty;
    For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

    'Tis not that I did choose Thee,
    For, Lord, that could not be;
    This heart would still refuse Thee
    Hadst Thou not chosen me.
    Thou from the sin that stained me
    Hast cleansed and set me free;
    Of old Thou hast ordained me,
    That I should live for Thee.

    'Twas sovereign mercy called me,
    And taught my opening mind;
    The world had else enthralled me,
    To heavenly glories blind.
    My heart owns none above Thee;
    For Thy rich grace I thirst;
    This knowing, if I love Thee,
    Thou must have loved me first. [Josiah Conder, 1789-1855]

    The Solid Rock, by Edward Mote (1797-1874), has always been among my favorites.

    1. My hope is built on nothing less
    Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
    I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
    But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
    On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
    All other ground is sinking sand.

    The Solid Rock from London Christian Harmony Singing, 2013

    I think Conder is too often overlooked as a writer of good hymns. His wife also wrote some good hymns.

    One of my favorite new hymns, based off "The Valley of Vision," from Sovereign Grace Ministries, entitled Oh Great God.

    Written by Bob Kauflin.
    VERSE 1
    O great God of highest heaven
    Occupy my lowly heart
    Own it all and reign supreme
    Conquer every rebel power
    Let no vice or sin remain
    That resists Your holy war
    You have loved and purchased me
    Make me Yours forevermore

    VERSE 2
    I was blinded by my sin
    Had no ears to hear Your voice
    Did not know Your love within
    Had no taste for heaven’s joys
    Then Your Spirit gave me life
    Opened up Your Word to me
    Through the gospel of Your Son
    Gave me endless hope and peace

    VERSE 3
    Help me now to live a life
    That’s dependent on Your grace
    Keep my heart and guard my soul
    From the evils that I face
    You are worthy to be praised
    With my every thought and deed
    O great God of highest heaven
    Glorify Your Name through me

    The Child Of Grace

    How happy's every child of grace,
    That feels his sins forgiven!
    "This earth" he cries, "is not my place,
    I seek a place in heaven;"
    A country far from mortal sight,
    Yet oh! by faith I see,
    The land of rest, the saint's delight,
    A heav'n prepared for me.

    O what a blessed hope is ours,
    While here on earth we stay!
    We more than taste the heav'nly pow'rs,
    And antedate that day;
    We feel the resurrection near,
    Our life in Christ concealed;
    And with His glor'ous presence here
    Our longing hearts are filled.

    When He shall more of heav'n bestow,
    And bid my soul remove,
    And let my trembling spirit go,
    To meet the God I love,
    With rapt'ous awe on Him I'll gaze,
    Who died to set me free,
    And sing and shout redeeming grace
    In vast eternity,

    I was a wandering sheep,
    I did not love the fold;
    I did not love my Shepherd’s voice,
    I would not be controlled.
    I was a wayward child,
    I did not love my home;
    I did not love my Father’s voice,
    I loved afar to roam.

    The Shepherd sought His sheep,
    The Father sought His child;
    They followed me o’er vale and hill,
    O’er deserts waste and wild;
    They found me nigh to death,
    Famished and faint and lone;
    They bound me with the bands of love,
    They saved the wand’ring one.

    They spoke in tender love,
    They raised my drooping head,
    They gently closed my bleeding wounds,
    My fainting soul they fed;
    They washed my filth away,
    They made me clean and fair;
    They brought me to my home in peace,
    The long sought wanderer.

    Jesus my Shepherd is:
    ’Twas He that loved my soul;
    ’Twas He that washed me in His blood,
    ’Twas He that made me whole.
    ’Twas He that sought the lost,
    That found the wand’ring sheep,
    ’Twas He that brought me to the fold,
    ’Tis He that still doth keep.

    No more a wandering sheep,
    I love to be controlled;
    I love my tender Shepherd’s voice,
    I love the peaceful fold.
    No more a wayward child,
    I seek no more to roam;
    I love my heavenly Father’s voice,
    I love, I love His home!

    Horatius Bonar

    This song IS my salvation story to a 'T'..

    Lyrics:
    TEXT:
    William Cowper
    MUSIC:
    Kevin Twit
    Chorus: Heal us, Emmanuel, here we stand
    Waiting to feel Thy touch
    To deep wounded souls reach forth
    Thy hand Oh Savior, we are such

    1. Our faith is feeble, we confess
    We faintly trust Thy word;
    But will You pity us the less?
    Be that far from You Lord!
    (Repeat chorus)

    2. Remember him who once applied
    With trembling for relief;
    "Lord, I believe," with tears he cried;
    "O help my unbelief!"
    (Repeat chorus)

    3. She, too, who touched you in the press
    And healing virtue stole,
    Was answered, "Daughter, go in peace;
    Thy faith has made thee whole."
    (Repeat chorus)

    4. Like her, with hopes and fears we come
    To touch You if we may;
    O send us not despairing home;
    Send none unhealed away.
    (Repeat chorus)

    "JESUS PAID IT ALL" has long been a favorite

    I hear the Savior say,
    "Thy strength indeed is small,
    Child of weakness, watch and pray,
    Find in Me thine all in all."

    Refrain:
    Jesus paid it all,
    All to Him I owe;
    Sin had left a crimson stain,
    He washed it white as snow.

    Lord, now indeed I find
    Thy pow'r and Thine alone,
    Can change the leper's spots
    And melt the heart of stone.

    For nothing good have I
    Where-by Thy grace to claim;
    I'll wash my garments white
    In the blood of Calv'ry's Lamb.

    4 And when, before the throne,
    I stand in Him complete,
    "Jesus died my soul to save,"
    My lips shall still repeat.

    Grace that is Greater than Our Sin (Julia Johnston)
    1. Marvelous grace of our loving Lord,
      Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
      Yonder on Calvary’s mount outpoured,
      There where the blood of the Lamb was spilled.
      • Refrain:
        Grace, grace, God’s grace,
        Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
        Grace, grace, God’s grace,
        Grace that is greater than all our sin!
    2. Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold,
      Threaten the soul with infinite loss;
      Grace that is greater, yes, grace untold,
      Points to the refuge, the mighty cross.
    3. Dark is the stain that we cannot hide;
      What can we do to wash it away?
      Look! There is flowing a crimson tide,
      Brighter than snow you may be today.
    4. Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
      Freely bestowed on all who believe!
      You that are longing to see His face,
      Will you this moment His grace receive?

    O for a thousand tongues to sing
    My great Redeemer’s praise,
    The glories of my God and King,
    The triumphs of His grace!

    He breaks the power of canceled sin,
    He sets the prisoner free;
    His blood can make the foulest clean,
    His blood availed for me.

    See all your sins on Jesus laid:
    The Lamb of God was slain,
    His soul was once an offering made
    For every soul of man.

    "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" (Ephesians 2:8)

    God's grace...what a gift!

    "Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." (John 6:28,29)

    God's grace + my faith (belief) = my salvation

    Nothing done 'alone'...

    'With' God all things are possible. Praise God.
