I right there with you Scarlett!
There is nothing else to be said
Other than to pray for Jerry Jr.
and that this will not affect Pastor Jonathan's ministry at Thomas Rd Bap.

How do you know? I certainly don't know. It would seem to me he apologized because he realized from the complaints he'd done something wrong.

Is this what you're hanging onto? That's why you won't forgive, because you think you know his motives? Much more concerned about your attitude than his.

I guess i don't understand why you keep saying this. If it was okay, I wouldn't agree with his apology. I think this issue is not this being okay, but a spirit of legalism and unforgiveness.

If you're basing it on one instance in time, then I don't see the risk. You have a man apologizing with a record of very good works.

But if you have more on him, let's hear it. First hand, please. Let's refrain from posting links from left wing MSM articles.

No, I sympathize. I have nothing to try to prove against him nor any motivation for such activity, but I think we're already seeing the risk being played out.

There have been previous accusations, assumed false, so this was bound to stir up real controversy, and is doing so. It's not the right sort of attention, but I have nothing to do with it in any case. It's neither my decision, nor am I associated. If it all blows over with a leave of absence, that's fine by me.

And that is precisely the problem. It's typical.

Falwell doesn't have anything to do with the actual academics.

I hope it does. Cancel culture is toxic, and it's a shame to see it moving into the Church. I wish the Church would touch the culture, and show the power of forgiveness. Seems the church today only follows the culture.

There is also a need to not forget about church discipline. No, LU is not a church, but the principle is applicable here.

What discipline do you thinks is necessary? He apologized. Won't do it again.

Seems to me, the discipline/restoration process was ignored in this case.

Well if you have the goods on him, please share. Let's not make baseless accusations.

All this brings to my mind, Paul's Inspired admonition if Thessalonians to "Abstain from the very appearance of evil."

It's not a baseless accusation. And all you have to do is a little research. I don't feel like getting into it. Let's just say this is not the first time questionable images of Jerry have surfaced online.

I think we all agree. I think Falwell agrees. The question is, did Paul want us to use photos to hold over someone forever? There's something amiss with this idea.

Paul wanted us to listen and be aware of how we are perceived, and if there's a problem to fix it. I don't think Paul meant this to be a modern form of gotcha.

I've followed Falwell for years. I'm not aware of what you're accusing him of. No, I'm not going to dig for you. You obviously know something. Let's hear it. Cite your sources.
