Then, by your definition, requiring abstinence as a matter of righteousness is legalism.

Wrong again. I have not mentioned abstinence. I have been critical of a preacher teaching his flock how to brew beer. Given that, and RW's plea for money, it seems a better way to spend God's money could be found.

We're not talking about what is to be preached, that's a different topic. We're talking about brewry class on church grounds. There's nothing unscriptural in and of itself about it.

Again, baloney. I am gtlad for the preachers who take their job seriously.

I listen to a lot of online sermons. Why should I listen to one from this guy ? Everything I have posted about him is true. John, your mind is just as made up as anyone's.

Annsi, those people have already decided. Nothing will change their minds.

I know - but it's worth posting in case one of them just MAY take the challenge to see the truth. Otherwise they are choosing to be ignorant, which is sad for any believer.

Whether a church chooses to have a brewing class on church grounds is a matter of liberty. It's not in and of itself unscriptural. It's no different than a church having a hunting fellowship. Yet I know several churches that have hunting fellowships.

This has nothign to do with RW.

You're presuming Driscoll is not, but you're not able to cite scripture or objectivity for that position.
John, your mind is just as made up as anyone's.
On the contrary, I change my mind often, thanks to those on this board with whom I share discussions. I will change my mind on Driscol if there is objective reason to do so.

I challenge you to listen to the facts from his own mouth. I challenge you to read the book in it's entirety. If you choose to not do so, then you continue to post in ignorance. If you are ignorant, then you have no right to post what you are ignorant about.

Can you show me where Mark Driscoll is teaching how to brew beer?

The bible is not full of warnings concerning hunting, in fact, eating meat is "blessed", in scripture. It is silly for you to even bring it up.

This has nothign to do with RW.

Sure it does. This heretic is speaking at his conference.

Benny Hinn can cite scripture. Satan can cite scripture.

Doubtful.

Wine is blessed in scripture as well.

At best, it's an ad hominem, since it has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Yet you cannot.
Doubtful.
How infantile, not to mention, a weak argument on your part.

It's called a "mocker".

It ties in quite nicely.

Yet you cannot.

If you are going to deny scripture's warnings against alcohol, there is no use talking to you.

How infantile, not to mention, a weak argument on your part.

I think your mind is made up. It is doubtful you will change it.

I still do not see where Mark Driscoll himself teaches how to brew beer. I see that others do but it does not say that Mark does the teaching. Do you have further proof?

What does that matter ? If there is no propblem with it ?

It's called a "mocker".

Genesis 27:28 "May God give you of the dew of heaven and of the fatness of the earthand plenty of grain and wine."

Numbers 15:10 "And you shall offer for the drink offering half a hin of wine, as a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD."

Numbers 18:12 "All the best of the oil and all the best of the wine and of the grain, the firstfruits of what they give to the LORD, I give to you."

Deuteronomy 7:13 "He will love you, bless you, and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your wine and your oil, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock, in the land that he swore to your fathers to give you."

Psalm 104:14-15 "You cause the grass to grow for the livestock
and plants for man to cultivate,
that he may bring forth food from the earth
and wine to gladden the heart of man,
oil to make his face shine
and bread to strengthen man’s heart."

So, wine is a mocker - but who gives it to us? And Who accepts it as a pleasing offering?

I see you guys have your mind made up. At least this discussion has opened up his views to those that may not have known them.

God is not mocked. His foot shall slide, in due time.

Unapologetically yours......:wavey:

Well, atleast people have had a chance to see the truth of the slander against a preacher of the Gospel. I've posted where people can hear Mark Driscoll speak for himself and then decide from there.

I'm open to changing my mind. So far, I've not been presented with a logical or objective reason. The only issues brought up for far fall into the category of scriptural liberty.
At least this discussion has opened up his views to those that may not have known them.
Which will no doubt cause some Driscoll naysayers to turn from their positions.

I also haven't listened to Mr. Driscoll. We heard a lot about him at the last SBC so I probably have a bias against him also. It's usually worse when you hear bad things about someone without hearing them.:wavey::godisgood:

Translation: I spread gossip!
