Generally, I agree with your statement.
However, Dan Quayle looked a lot better physically than Lloyd Bentsen in 1988, yet Bentsen skewered him in their debate.
I imagine that it took a massive amount of money and personnel and planning behind the scenes to make that happen.
And yes, the situation in Afghanistan is worsening.
Today the Pakistanis fired on our troops at the border.
Pakistan claims to want to defeat the terrorists but object to letting us in while at the same time, they are unable to defeat them by themselves.
She is made of different stuff.
You can minimize her all you want, but she is not an empty pantsuit.
She is quick, sharp, forceul, and she knows herself.
If she has the discernment most Christian ladies possess, she will know him as well.
If Biden comes in swaggering and underestimates her, he will look like "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" --"A jigsaw puzzle, with a couple of pieces gone."
You are probably right, it will be a constant battle.
I would venture to say that as long as Isreal remains a sovereign state, and we support her with weapons and other aide, that the threat of terrorists attacks will remain.
Even if we get BinLaden, some other Islamic extremist will carry on the fight.
I am not saying we should abandon Isreal, because I believe the promise to Abraham still stands and that we must support isreal.
I am just saying that it will come with a cost.
I really enjoyed her speech at the RNC and thought she was a good public speaker who did a really good job delivering a clear message of why to support McCain.
But I have to be honest that I was not impressed by these two sessions she has had with the media.
Sure she hasn't had a lot of time to prepare for the issues since coming on as McCain's running mate.
But this is not an election for school president.
She needs to get on top of things fast.
And I would have thought being governor would have prepared her better for handling the media than this.
I like the woman and think she adds a lot to McCain's campaign.
But I can see an implosion if the media interactions keep going like that.
She will give more interviews at the proper time.
Timing is everything.
Why waste words with a liberal press only to have them skew, digest, and regurgitate everything you say?
In a couple of weeks, the press will be slammed with Sarah Palin statements and interviews. It's called strategy, waiting until just before election day.
You will soon have a Sarah Palin media blitz.
Be patient, liberals, be patient.
The problem, as I see it, the Independent voters she was brought on to attract are loosing faith. Can her later interviews bring them back is yet to be seen.
I think she was brought on to shore up the rightward base. McCain has always been viewed as a moderate, and he was losing the base. I don't think anyone thought she would get Hillary voters, at least many of them.
I agree, but did he consider all facets when he chose her. Example, while the two candidates have been in DC dealing with the economy, Biden has been out drumming up votes (along with gaff's). Palin looked like a tourist in NY visiting
ground zero.
We are days before a vote and they should/could be covering more turf if he picked someone ready to put in the game.
So yes, she got him part of a base. However, this economic crises could have won him that same base if he sticks with the ultra conservatives regarding this bail out plan. Also, most of the extreme right would have voted against Obama even if they didn't like McCain.
I think that the McCain camp doesn't want Palin to do any interviews until they have told her what to say.
I also don't think they want her to do any more interviews that is absolutely necessary.
She comes across as too radical for the average American, therefore they need her to shore up the religious right-wing base without costing them too many votes from the average American.
All you have to be is pro-life and against alternative lifestyles to get them. This is the easiest part of the population when it comes to winning votes. McCain could have gotten them with a bumper sticker.
You said it, I just have to be pro-life and I get your vote. You saying that ain't easy?
Bush said he was pro-life, but what has he done for you since? McCain is a recent convert to total pro-life. Doesn't he have your vote? Did he work for it?
Yeah. I'm saying you don't know a thing about how I'm going to vote, and I'm also saying you haven't been paying very close attention to what I've been saying.
I think I'm about to write you off as a hateful liberal. I had such high hopes for dialogue with you.
