When I was a youth pastor, some of the parents let me take their teenagers to the gun range.

- If you liked the holocaust, you will love gun control.

- When guns are outlawed, I will be an outlaw (now twice over).

Actually, a semi-clever antichrist can take control and
have small arms all over the place.

Sadam H. managed to rule a country for 25 years
that was the most highly armed country in
the world. See, you can't shoot at a
government that, if it wants you, captures
your kid at school and comes after you.
Even today we have problem with all the
handguns in Iraq.

52 years ago i became a Christian.
I've been armed ever since I was an
adult. in 1999 cancer came to my house
and took away my first wife. All the
guns in the house didn't do a bit
of good in the world. You can't shoot
a cancer.

Marcia: "I knew that all the posts would be for guns -- I just knew it! This question was a waste of time, imo, because it could be predicted that everyone would agree that guns are great."

Don't think so Siter Marcia. Guns are
no good unless you like to hunt. Even
then they are never fair.

Where I live guns are part of life, most have one in the front seat of their pick-up. I support the right of law abiding citizens to own whatever kind of gun they want. Time and time again we have seen that any gun law on the books doesn't stop criminals from having guns, only adds to the list of charges when they do break the law and we should have the right protect ourselves should the need, unfortunately, present itself. And sure we could go to the store and buy meat to eat but nothing the store has compares a good piece of backstrap. At every potluck we have someone brings deer something to eat!

Marcia, Just what do you have against guns?

Have you ever been around them? Shot them? Have family members who do?

My wife had never been exposed to guns growing up but she now has one and knows how to shoot it. It is a great comfort to her when I'm away and she's at home alone.

It kinda is a church issue, as our consitution was written by a Christian government (at the time anyways) to dismiss our GOD given rights would be a violation to all of our rights, why not give up the right to religon, the right to assemble and worship? that is a constituional right that is disappearing as well, they allready removed any kind of Christian influance in the public school system, although I don't think bearing arms would be appropreate at school. And the right to bear arms is not just aimed twards militias, but to American citizens. I am a proud gun owner, and a proud militia member (SASS# 55199) who also is Baptist, the bulk of my shooting as well as most gun owners is target shooting, or reenactment, not robbery, or other illeagle activity, that only represents the gun owners that get bad publicity, from a Liberal, anti Christian media.

Not great but, they fulfill a purpose. They are VERY dangerous. As a child I was taught in a no nonsense manner to have a healthy respect for the firearms at our home. My father was an avid hunter. They are safe if people practice a high regard for their potential. The problem is that many won't.

</font>
No, I have not been around guns. It is not so much that I am against guns per se, but the attitude I find here. I find that Christians are more enthusiastic about protecting their right to own guns than they are about witnessing, working in a homeless shelter, taking time with Mormon missionaries at the door to try to present the gospel, visiting the sick, etc.

Just look at the responses -- ready to fight anyone who wants to take away guns. I wish I could see that kind of enthusiam for supporting missions and for witnessing and for taking care of people down and out.

Where are all these "tree hugging, give peace a chance, liberal" people? They are not on this thread. What you got here are avid gun lovers (except for me).

Also, nothing was said about war. It's about the the 2nd ammendment which seems to be written so that we can have an army.

Last time I checked none of the major threats we are facing in this world today had any of those weapons. </font>
The last time I checked none of the major threats we are facing in the world today were trying to revoke the 2nd amendment. If any agent attempted to do this, that agent would be the U.S. government. </font>
some examples for ya marcie, now that that is settled , let me quote you something else, since you apperently are a femmenest who likes lipping off to Men 1 Timothy 2:11-12 (KJV) Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man , but to be in silence.

You don't know what you are talking about, don't try to debate it with a Man.

Ok, I am faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from being liberal.

Also, just because someone is a woman doesn't mean she is a moron. Try context the next time you quote verses to support your closed-mindedness.

The Constitution of the USA is not the be-all, end-all. But it is the governing document of my Republic.

A well-armed citizenry will ensure that the document is not changed by internal government or external forces.

You are way out of line. As a newcomer, you should maybe look at the posts on different threads here and see that women are welcome to debate here.

The Bible verse you quote is not applicable here at all.

Also, calling people names is not polite. Also, saying that I am "lipping off" is not a nice thing to say and violates God's command for a Christian man to treat younger women as his sisters and older women as his mother.

BTW, my name is "Marcia," not "Marcie."

I would not want to be in this church. </font>
But Marcia, do you remember the incident last year when intruders barged inside a Baptist church and just shot members at random? Wouldn't you feel safer with church members armed to the bone, knowing that they would be quick to respond if a psycho barges in?

</font>
Marcia, I think you're stretching a bit here. This thread is about guns and the Christian attitude toward them. It is a pointed discussion (no pun intended).

If you want to know how Baptists feel about any subject all you have to do is ask.

I personally spent more time ministering yesterday than I did handling my firearms. In fact the only reason I opened the gun safe yesterday was to put some unsigned credit cards in it for safe keeping!

</font>
Marcia, The Second Amendment if written to permit an army would be the exception instead of the rule when compared to the other Rights in the Bill of Rights. Read them all closely and you will see that the evidence leans to the understanding that these are INDIVIDUAL Rights of People or Citizens of these United States.

History shows us that if we lose our GOD-GIVEN right of self-protection then our Bibles are next…along with our right to witness, etc.
