Yeah I get wound up when our troops get fired at. We have to destroy our munitions, betray allies and watch Russians occupy our bases.

    It’s just too much winning.

It seems to me that Turkey got everything they wanted--Kurds out of northern Syria, a Turkish controlled buffer zone in northern Syria, and no economic sanctions.

Why was the need to remove these troops so abrupt? There was no transition to speak of, just high tail it out of there, even leaving equipment and munitions behind.

Apparently Turkey doesn't need to abide by the ceasefire.

According to a new report this morning by Yahoo News and the AFP, Turkey has already broken the ceasefire brokered yesterday by Pence and Pompeo:

Deadly Turkish air strikes Friday shattered an hours-old US-brokered deal to stop Ankara’s military offensive against Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria.

The ceasefire announced late Thursday was meant to provide a pause for the evacuation of Kurdish fighters from the battleground border town of Ras al-Ain and other areas Turkey wants to control along its border with Syria. he five-day suspension looked designed to help Turkey achieve its main territorial goals without fighting but its Syrian proxies continued to clash with Kurdish fighters Friday and an air strike killed five civilians.

“Five civilians were killed in Turkish air strikes on the village of Bab al-Kheir, east of Ras al-Ain,” Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said.

The Britain-based war monitor said four fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces — the de facto army of the embattled Kurdish autonomous region — were killed in the strike

I suppose the question is what prompted this. It cannot simply be that he cannot be trusted. Did he see some sort of threat?

Yet, not one drop of American blood has been spilled since this move. A major treaty with all sides chilling is under negotiation. We are getting out of doing the policing of a foreign country's war that's been going on for 100s of years ...and who gives a horse's behind if the Russians take over bases we do not want and are stupid enough to try to take over the policing. This is not our fight! Just because someone fights along side us against a common enemy doesn't mean we are obligated to defends their century's old battles from then on. "Betray Allies"? Give me a break...

I'm all for getting out of there and leaving them to fight it out amongst themselves. But to suddenly pull the plug, leaving equipment and munitions behind? Threaten sanctions, writing letters implying Erdogan is a fool if he doesn't follow Trump's lead? I just think it could have been handled differently.

Luckily no American blood was spilled. Thankfully they missed. A major treaty is not currently being discussed. At all. There was what we called a ceasefire that Turkey is apparently breaking as we speak not 24 hours after Trump was bragging about his genius letter that was thrown in the trash. We betrayed allies. Full stop. Read a book. Or watch the news tonight.

Here is Mattis because he’s great at explaining,

I feel like I’ve said this 1,000 times and I still get the comments about wanting to stay there forever. Nobody is reading the posts.

Mattis cited a Lincoln speech that ends with the explanation of why bipartisanship is so far from possible with the current Dem Mob ruling by passion and ignorance—they want nothing in common with, want nothing to do with our founding, except to undermine and uproot it entirely, then desecrate it completely.

Speaking of those who fought the Revolution, Lincoln closes with these words:

They were the pillars of the temple of liberty; and now, that they have crumbled away, that temple must fall, unless we, their descendants, supply their places with other pillars, hewn from the solid quarry of sober reason. Passion has helped us; but can do so no more. It will in future be our enemy. Reason, cold, calculating, unimpassioned reason, must furnish all the materials for our future support and defence.--Let those materials be moulded into general intelligence, sound morality, and in particular, a reverence for the constitution and laws: and, that we improved to the last; that we remained free to the last; that we revered his name to the last; that, during his long sleep, we permitted no hostile foot to pass over or desecrate his resting place; shall be that which to learn the last trump shall awaken our WASHINGTON.

Upon these let the proud fabric of freedom rest, as the rock of its basis; and as truly as has been said of the only greater institution, "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

I’m so glad you posted this. Mob rule? Impossible bi-partisanship?

This look look like mob rule to you?

Opposes Withdrawal of U.S. Forces in... - H.J.RES.77: Opposing the decision to end certain United...

This is the bi-partisan effort to stave off one mans efforts to drag our country’s already weakened reputation through the mud.

This is the elected representatives of the people telling the President he messed up.

Persons who have staked their credibility, sacrificed relationships, and turned their minds off to be indoctrinated by the Trump cult, cannot afford to discover that they have been conned.

They cannot accept any reality that does not support their viewpoint.

Along with the Socialist Democrat bunch that are supporting the war industry in this are the neoconservatives that are naturally opposing the return of paleoconservatism from Trump.

Trump may turn out to be wrong on this one point, though Gabbard evidently thinks he's right in principle. However, no one is always right, including Gen. Mattis. And uncertainty is not always wise to express.

In any case, the Progressive Leftist Dems who created "Arab Spring"—the rise of ISIS, a new Caliphate, massive death and destruction—were the only other option on the ticket, so their loss was a godsend, and when more of them lose, it will be so again. If they ever get anything right, it will be by accident, not design. Their designs, even this milquetoast "bipartisan" one, are malicious to the core.

Rambling screed of words without any tangible point. I love how you throw a bunch of Lincoln quotes about bi-partisanship at me which I immediately shut down. All I get in return is an extreme case of bipartisan hate language from you. Perfect. You can’t make this stuff up folks. Amazing conversation we are having here.

Explain to me why I should even remotely care what Tulsi Gabbard thinks about this situation.

What a convenient thing to forget how we ended up in the Middle East in the first place. How typically partisan and disingenuous. I’ll take Mattis over Trump any day with military decision making.

Who is going to enforce the cease fire? What are the penalties for violating it?

Seems like a feel good solution that relies on trusting a bunch of bad actors to behave.

Well nobody is enforcing it as we’ve seen. Also, probably would have been nice to broker a cease fire with ya know...both parties perhaps?
