Evidently you do not plan on being there with me. That is sad.

In the music ministry forum - you praise men, and not God.

I long for the day when God's people get to kneel in his presence.

I pray that you might be able to make it. As for the Beetles? Keep praying that your eastern religion buddies repent and might make it. If they do, they can teach me how to do a guitar rip . . . and I can teach them how to proclaim the Gospel.

Does anybody else find it just a bit hypocritical that El Goofo condemns us for listening to the Beatles and praising their music, but then starts a thread to tell us all how much he like "The Unit"?

I mean, isn't it a little hypocritical for him to support actors and actresses who have portrayed things in TV and movies that, if we mentioned them, he would be quick to condemn?

I don't necessarily like "the Unit", and quite frakly it has no bearing on this thread.
The Beatle's music is trash and for a good number of reasons. '
I won't even listen to Elvis sing Christmas Carols, in spite of him being a "so-called" good musician, because the messenger must fit the message.
First the messenger was unsaved and ungodly.
Second the message was worldly and anti-Christian.
Third, all music should honor God, and the Beatle's definitley did not.
Fourth, What is the chief end of man? The chief end of man is to glorify God--as the Westminster confession states. It seems to be a fairly accurate statement. That is about as far as one can get from the Beatle's music. It does not glorify God.

John lennon said and wrote some of the most Satanic lies against Jesus Christ that have ever been recorded in history. If ever a person could qualify as "an antichrist" according to 1John, and even demon-possessed, it would be John Lennon. The Bible teaches (from the lips of Jesus himself) that from a corrupt tree comes corrupt fruit. A good tree bears good fruit. You shall know them by their fruit.
Music is not amoral. It is moral. And this lot of immoral kids could not produce moral music. It was very immoral and anti-Christ. It was at the beginning of the rock music age as we know it today. And thus it was also at the beginning of the CCM movement as we know it today. It began the corruption of music in our churches. From that time young people put them as their idols, replacing the God of Heaven. Anything that comes between you and God is an idol. John said "My little children keep yourself from idols." He had good reason to write that, and he was not speaking about wood and stone idols of the pagans.

If the messenger is bad so it the message. The message is corrupt. There is no better example than that of the beatles.
The Bible teaches that all our works as an unsaved person are an abomination to him. It doesn't matter if you are plowing a field to plant the wheat to make the bread to feed the world. It is an abomination in God's eyes. Running orphanages, Feeding the poor, Giving to worthy causes, whatever good thing you may think of; if it is done by the saved it is an abomination before God, and God counts as filthy rags before him. They are only worthy to be thrown out as trash--and that is His view of the Beatle's music.

Everything that glorifies God dosen't always start out with a man who serves him, look at Esther, or Job, or every story in the Bible. Only Genesis is a book that dosen't start with Sin. Haven't you heard of John Lennons "Help?" If you had [assuming your're that old] you could've offered him the truth at that moment. Instead you failed to glorify God because you judged him as did Job's friends.

Music is not all praise love and "It is well with my soul." Art is MAN's views of life, and that isn't always through God's heavenly lenses. And if it takes doubting, questioning, or shouting against our Father, God does not condem it. Job was indeed perfectly righteous in his questioning and ranting, as was God when He put him in his place [which wasn't threatening but rather reassuring, if you actually read into it as little or much as I have]. David in his Psalms brings out every uncensored emotion and thought he had from what God did to him and what he did to himself. I'm not making you listen or watch stuff that isn't to your taste, but if you are exposed to unGondly beliefs or expressions, don't let it stay that way but you will never be able to reach that musician or filmaker or graphic novelist if all you do is condemn the medium, he's worked hard hours with.
However it's this type of condescending hatred of the marked "Entertainment Industry" which as made Christians such bad artists that I'm more repulsed to see our work compared to that of unbelievers

    But Esther and Job did.
Esther was a Godly young woman who was willing to sacrifice her very life for the existence of her nation. She fasted and prayed to the God of Heaven (Jehovah). She was a Godly woman.
Job had God's testimony concerning him in heaven before Satan:

Job 1:8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

John Lennon was a wicked man that wanted nothing to do with God. Yes I have heard of "Help," and remember the words to it. It wasn't a cry to God.
"Help, I need someone; Help, I need anyone Heeelp...." His cry for help was for some whore, not for God. Lennon was a sex maniac fixed on drugs who had no need for God (in his mind).
Yes, God does condemn it. God condemns all wickedness--doubting, questioning, and shouting against the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Creator of you and all who have had the privilege to walk this earth which he has created for us.

Habakkuk 1:13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
"In all this Job sinned not neither did he accuse God foolishly."
God doesn't print uncensored emotions and thoughts. He censors them first, puts them through the purifying process of His Holy Spirit, so that they are the exact words that God wants in this Book.
To condone ungodliness is to condone the works of the devil.

    Ephesians 5:3-4 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

Ephesians 5:11-12 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
God hates sin. Christians ought to hate sin. It is a pity that they don't.

No, it doesn't. But El Goofo's hypocrisy does.

    Like what?

Which Christmas carol are you referring to? I need to know because I'm getting ready to dust off the Bing Crosby Christmas albums.

Does "Row, Row, Row You Boat" glorify God?

I disagree with this on a number of levels, but suffice to say that the point of this thread is to discuss the artistic merit of their music, not the morality of their lives.

In this case one cannot separate the message from the messenger no matter how good you think the artistic merit may or may not be of their music.

    [FONT=&quot]
quotes taken from "The Answer," by J.D. Carlson.

The message cannot be separated from the messenger. According to 1John Lennon fits into the category of an antichrist. Even his manager called him that, and he probably wasn't a saved man. It doesn't matter how good you think the quality of the music may be; if it is against God it is blasphemous. It is blasphemous it has no redeeming quality whatsoever.

Romans 8 slipped right by you? Where were you raised that every aspect of your life started out as Godly? As a matter of fact, you lie if you say you've even heard Beetles music. Help was a sencere cry, Lennon himself said so. Also everything "world oriented" is going to be more popular than Jesus Christ, get over it. What song actually says they're anti-christ? could you provide those lyrics?

Then you shouldn't listen to his music or that of the Beatles. There you go. Problem solved.

John Lennons reason for not wanting anything to do with God can be tied to the way so called Christian judged him, that and a few good whackins from some Nuns.
The song "Help" was about a whore? I'm gonna listen to it one more time but I swear I don't recall the song ever mentioning or making refrence to a whore.

What ever happened to sinners being responsible for their sin?

    Have we forgotten judgement?

Have we forgotten that we will all answer for what we have done?

Have we forgotten that the ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN IS THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST?

Or, do we mere humans really think that we can re-write what God has ordained and make it better?

In the Glorious name of :jesus:

Ok you might as well have said you never have listened to Beetles' music; since you keep on about every stanza of every song they've written as being devoid of substance because it's "evilrottenandnasty." I do apoligize if I made you feel unworthy of God's grace, I didn't think that of you. Yet I can not acknowledge your authority as an elder or of being the age of an elder as long as you keep on with your anti-unbeliever hate-ridden attitude to life.

How in the world have you deduced this? I have listened to that song numerous times over the course of my life, and I have never taken that from the song.... not once.
If you "remember the words to it," then please enlighten us as to how you have decided that this is the subject matter of the song.

Lennon was not a saint, and never claimed to be. I am not sure how you have decided that he "was a sex maniac."

well remember YoKo Ono was an affair, a rather nasty one-probably one of the reasons he was shot, and why his sons are like angry at eacher-maybe that's what some of us are thinking about-I too found it disgusting-but I haven't heard the music he made during that time....did all this focus on lennon happen because a movie was just made on him? Paul MacCarthney was also a writer for the Beetles....though Ringo always will have a place in my soul over all of the other three....I'll have to really start praying for him to get saved..if he isn't already....I once heard a daughter of his is a drummer...Is that true?

    [SIZE=+1]Help!

    Help! I need somebody,
    Help! Not just anybody,
Help! You know I need someone,
    Help!
When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody’s help in any way,
But now these days are gone and I’m not so self assured,
Now I find I’ve changed my mind I’ve opened up the doors.
Help me if you can, I’m feeling down,
And I do appreciate you being around,
Help me get my feet back on the ground,
Won’t you please please help me?
And now my life has changed in oh so many ways,
My independence seems to vanish in the haze,
But ev’ry now and then I feel so insecure,
I know that I just need you like I’ve never done before.
Help me if you can, I’m feeling down,
And I do appreciate you being around,
Help me get my feet back on the ground,
Won’t you please please help me?
When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody’s help in any way,
But now these days are gone and I’m not so self assured,
Now I find I’ve changed my mind I’ve opened up the doors.
Help me if you can, I’m feeling down,
And I do appreciate you being around,
Help me get my feet back on the ground,
Won’t you please please help me?

    Help me. Help me.

The help is directed to a human not God. Lennon did not believe in the God of the Bible. His god was an eastern god of a mystic religion, a false god. He was anti-Christ all the way. He said the most hateful things against Christ ever recorded in history. This song is a song about the help he wanted from a young woman. It is about sex. He's opened up the doors. I wonder why? Why else would a young man open up his doors to a young woman, when he is feeling sad?
"I do appreciate you being round." Someone was there. And it wasn't God who he didn't believe in. It was someone of the opposite sex.

Read the first lines: "When I was younger..."
Then he remembers how he enjoyed sex a lot. Now he wants more.
Look at more of his music. They are filled with the exaltation of sex and self.

Her Majesty’s a pretty nice girl but she
Doesn’t have a lot to say.
Her Majesty’s a pretty nice girl but she
    Changes from day to day.
I wanna tell her that I love her a lot,
But I gotta get a belly full of wine.
Her Majesty’s a pretty nice girl,
Someday I’m gonna make her mine – Oh yeah,
Someday I’m gonna make her mine.

--Only God is worthy of being called Majesty. He gives this title to a girl that he wants sex with.

    [SIZE=+1]The Inner Light

Without going out of my door
I can know all things on earth.
Without looking out of my window
I could know the ways of heaven.
    The farther one travels,
    The less one knows,
    The less one knows.
Without going out of my door
I can know all things on earth.
Without looking out of my window
I could know the ways of heaven.
    The farther one travels,
    The less one knows,
    The less one knows.
    Arrive without travelling.
    See all without looking.
    (See all without looking).

--Lennon claims to be omniscient, an attribute that is attributablie to God alone. He is claiming deity here. He knows all things he says. He hates God and therefore sets himself up as God. What kind of blasphemy is this!! What more do you want?
All of his songs are filled with self, sex, pride, and sin.
There is nothing that gives glory to God; absolutely nothing.
If anything they glorify the devil not God.

    DHK, You got it wrong

DHK, you are simply wrong about the context of Lennons song "Help". No these songs were not designed to glorify God but they were not designed to be as you have suggested. Lennon pursued Eastern religion but gave it up, yes he was an athiest and he did write songs denouncing religions but the songs you have listed are not those songs.
"Her Majesty" is pretty much a little ditty that MCartney wrote most likely about his adopted daughter and it was not about sex,
"Inner Light" was written by George Harrison who was the only Beatle that was into Eastern religion and it was not about sex.
So why are you so obsessed about songs of the Beatles?
