    Has this ever bothered you?

John Hagee on Salvation for the Jews...

John Hagee, who pastors a church in Texas with an active membership of over 19,000 and who has a radio and television ministry that reaches 99 million homes, has written a book, which, by his own admission, is an attack on the very foundations of the Christian faith! In a video promoting his new book, Hagee makes the following claims:

“In Defense of Israel will shake Christian theology. It scripturally proves that the Jewish people as a whole did not reject Jesus as Messiah. It will also prove that Jesus did not come to earth to be the Messiah. It will prove that there was a Calvary conspiracy between Rome, the high priest, and Herod to execute Jesus as an insurrectionist too dangerous to live. Since Jesus refused by word and deed to claim to be the Messiah, how can the Jews be blamed for rejecting what was never offered? Read this shocking exposѐ, In Defense of Israel.”

    So what do you think...

Anything that claims it is a "shocking expose" better be prepared to prove it. Fail.

It is amazing how some folks can repeat what has been known for centuries and claim to find new information in it. That, unfortunately, is what evangelicalism has often come to.

All those who have sinned bear the burden of guilt for the execution of Jesus. Pilate and the Sanhedrin and the mob were only God's instruments of redemption.

I do not consider Hagee to be a Christian, just as I consider Joel Osteen to be a heretic. Both congregations are being lead by a wolf in sheeps clothing.

He's just one of thousands of voices out there with his own spin on the Scriptures. Start your own church and away you go!

L Ron Hubbard was known to say I am only earning a penny a word for the books I write but I bet if I started a religion I would earn millions...

Is Hagee in the pay of the godless nation that calls itself Israel? The nation that benefits from billions of dollars of U.S. taxes? The nation protected by U.S. armaments and stolen nuclear secrets? The nation that steals Palestinian land and water, and operates a stranglehold on whole areas of Palestine, and discriminates against Christians and Muslims, AND Jewish and multifaith peace workers.

The nation that totally disregards the OT prophets call for justice.

I suggest Hagee and his followers reread the Gospels without Zionist blinders.

Do you actually have scripture that supports this claim?

I can produce many passages that plainly convict the Jews of the crime but none that places the bloodguilt on anyone else, not even the Romans.

Growing up in what I now consider to be a hyper-Evangelical/Dispensational Southern Baptist church, I listened to many impassioned sermons telling me that I was just as guilty of crucifying Christ as if I were there driving the spikes in His hands and His feet and piercing His side with the spear, in the same vein of those sermons that horrendously placed the bloodguilt of others being damned to hell on me because of my failure as a soul winner. Is this what you believe?

I completely agree with this excerpt from monergism.com:

"Dispensationalism is a relatively modern hermeneutic, or way of interpreting the scriptures, that has roots in the teachings of John Darby, was greatly popularized by C. I. Scofield, through the notes in his study bible, became influential through the establishment of Dallas Theological Seminary and many of its professors, including Lewis Sperry Chafer and Charles Ryrie, and has been greatly sensationalized and made influential at a popular level through the fiction and dramatic predictions and interpretations of authors such as Hal Lindsey and Tim LaHaye. Today, Dispensationalism is hugely influential worldwide, having a significant impact not just on the doctrine of the Church, but even on global politics, as the Dispensationally-driven Christian Zionist movement, championed by such men as John Hagee, has largely shaped America's Middle Eastern policies for many years."

    What is Dispensationalism?

"his own spin on the Scriptures".

Actually it's the same spin as all the other 'last day' charlatans making merchandise of the flock, he feeds them the 'sensationalism of Dispensationalism'.

So it's either Zionism or antisemitism, no possible middle ground?

Let me clarify. Hagee has obviously jumped the shark with this ridiculous claim. I wasn't disputing that.

Criticism of Israel, Zionism & Jews is NOT antisemitic.

Criticism of Roman Catholicism, Modernism & Christian Zionism, etc, is NOT antichristian.

Sure. And criticism of Palestinians or some other regional despots does not equal Zionism.

I've spent over 10% of my adult life in the Middle East. I feel that my opinions on the region stem from more than just my eschatology.
