It shouldn't matter where we carry our Bibles. I admit I don't carry mine around like I used to, but I used to take mine with me to school a lot. I was heavily involved with FCA & Campus For Christ. In those days, I believed that everyone (myself included) needed to be beaten over the head with The Bible. Speech class gave me the perfect opportunity to express my views & my faith in Jesus. People began labeling me as a Jesus Freak, which was okay with me. There are worse things to be called.
A couple of my other friends were a bit more vocal than I was & kind of began preaching to other students during our lunch hour, outside, near the concourse. The next day, both of them were called to the princpal's office. He didn't get in any trouble, but he told me the principal didn't want have a stir created with the parents. The principal told him he didn't have a problem with what he was doing, but asked him to tone things down a little. My friend went on to attend a seminary & became a minister in the Pentecostal church. -
I am not saying where "shouldn't" we carry our Bibles. I asked where we 'ought" to carry our bibles.

School is definetely where it ought to be carried. Its important to teach kids about The Bible & about Jesus. -

Depends on why.
If you carry your Bible places so folks can see how holy you are you ought to just leave it home. If you take it to work or school with you to make a point you ought to leave it home. If you take it anywhere with the anticipation of how others will react; leave it home.
Now if you take it to the marketplace, work or school with the intention of being a good steward of your time and availing yourself to God's Word at every moment -or- you want your Sword handy to do battle -or- you want to be equipped for one of those divine appointments then you ought to keep it close by. -
The only place I don't carry a bible is when I mow my yard...
I think its important to carry a bible for several reasons...
1. You never know when you will have a moment to spend in Gods word
2. You never know when you will have a moment to witness to someone. No a bible isn't required, but it is helpful.
3. It is a constant physical reminder of who you represent.
Granted some will think #3 kinda silly, but its hard to get road rage when your staring out over the bible.. :D -
While my eyesight is still good, I carry a small Bible in my purse at all times. It's been very helpful for when I forget to grab my regular Bible for church on Sunday (you know those mornings - getting 6 people out of the house by 8:15 and we're running late - LOL). Because it's in my purse, it's always there. I know both of my teens always have their Bibles with them for school too (college and high school).

I marked several of those. In my late teens I carried a New Testament to school to read when I had no class. Well, actually, I've never had much class, but that's another story .
I also took a Bible to work to read during my breaks. I didn't have an office and didn't carry a briefcase. -
If the Bible is our sword, we don't do that much "fighting" at church (though we should use it at church). -
you should take it anywhere your actually going to read it, and not feel superior or show off because you have it. if your displaying it for others to see, then you should elave it at home.

It is more important to carry the world of God in your mind and in your heart than in your hand. It should never be a prop for others to see how religious you are, but instead it should be a tool for practical righteousness that you keep handy for opportune moments.
Back when I was in college, my faith was renewed and I began a practice of carrying a pocket-sized Bible with me everywhere I went. The only time people (other than good friends) knew I had it was when someone would ask me something about scripture or say, "I wish I had a Bible right now so I could look up [something]."
A few years ago I started carrying a Palm organizer and purchased Bible software so I had a library of translations and language helps with me everywhere I went. And then for the last year and a half, I've carried an iPhone with free software that has multiple translations and a whole internet of language helps and reference materials. I can read and study anywhere I have cell phone service even if I don't happen to have a printed Bible with me. -
I always had my children take their Bibles when they went out with other kids too. That way, no one could get to them without crawling over Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John! -
I say take your Bible where ever you please. I do.
