Actually, Driscoll discusses this in "Radical Reformission", pages 145-147, or thereabouts, where he talks about how he abstained and expected everyone else to do the same, and how he eventually came to realize his attitude was sinful, afterwhich he repented of it.The only unproven statement on the whole thread was Johnv's "He started drinking because of legalism" . He hasn't supplied anything to back that up.

The message I get from Driscoll is that our eternity is already settled. And, I don't care what people say in his defense. His own words do him in
In chapter fourteen, Jesus actually yells at his friends for taking a nap late at night after running them all over the place for about three years as an obvious workaholic who needed to start drinking decaf and listening to taped sounds of running water while doing aromatherapy so he could learn to relax.

Potlucks don't honor Christ. Yet the word "Baptist" and "potluck" are practically synonymous.
...only if it's a bad brew.Potlucks honor Christ in the way of Godly fellowship. How to make brew classes don't qualify!!!:jesus:
I'd like to hear the explaining away on this one. I can tell you, if a preacher said that from my pulpit in church, I'd be pulling a Wilson and hollering something at him.
I listen to a lot of online sermons.

I have to admit I have heard many negative things about Driscoll. I heard him speak on a few occasions years ago. I have not held a favorable view of him for many years, and rightly so based on his own admissions of his practices and beliefs. I listened however, to Annsni's link to Driscoll's message on the "emerging church", and have to say that this particular message was spot on in my opinion. It was a truly great message that I enjoyed immensely. And if those indeed are his views today as an older and more mature preacher then I say praise God! I would hope that all of us who are pastors have grown in wisdom, and become more refined in our faith as we have gotten older. Driscoll's message to me seemed to reflect a man who has matured in his faith, repented of past mistakes, and is only interested in reaching the lost with the message of the gospel.
Actually, Driscoll is a leader in the Emergent movement, not a "profound expositor of God's word".

Amen. Prepare to be castigated :BangHead:am not for Driscoll or against him; but we should be accurate about what we say about him.
