It would be helpful if these SDA folks could even explain their beliefs.

Ok if you insist on Matthew 23;15 posted to you as response to your post... fine.

"you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves".Matthew 23:15

Not my choice of dialogue but I will accommodate your request in that one case.

Explanations work best if people admit to basic Bible principles that all of us know - and are obvious to start with

Lol. Well go ahead and continue, yes, I will agree that God making the heavens and the earth is found in Exodus. So explain why the order in how it is stated is important to you and anything else you would like.

Hint: Genesis 2:1 is not a quote of Ex 20:11 -- but they do link this way

    Genesis 2
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. 2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

    Ex 20:11
11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

    Acts 14:15
15 and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We are also men of the same nature as you, and preach the gospel to you that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.

It gets back to the fact that your Bible is telling you that Acts 15:14 and other texts just like it - are quoting Exodus 20:11.... obviously.

No, it is not obvious why this is important to your SDA three angel message doctrine, which is the topic. John quotes what has been quoted by prophets from the beginning, you distinguish it as quoted from Exodus, which I can agree, that's fine. now tell us why this is an important factor to the SDA three angel message doctrine? This is your connect the dots game, so please continue on and connect the dots for us. Someone had to connect the dots for you. Someone had to convince you this SDA doctrine was correct. Cannot you do the same?

    One declared why he comes...

Which he clarified what his gospel message is here....

However, when I began questioning what this message is, he took his fishing pole and worms and went home. So I don't know how they will ever convince anyone of their SDA angel message if they refuse to engage in a conversation. I think they just want to preach and you should accept what they say, no questioning. The JWs take the same approach, if you agree with them they will continue, if you question them they say "have a nice day".

Oh...he was trying to proselytize. Usually when I get JW or Mormons knocking on the door I let them in. After a couple hours, they leave with their faith in tatters. Questioning everything they once believed to be true.

A lot of people - both Baptist and nonBaptist come here to share their beliefs - to read about the belief of others and to question and be questioned on the points of their faith so that the readers can compare and don't have to "imagine" what someone might say - but can read it for themselves.

I saw a post on here recently "imagining" what an Adventist might say for this or that text -- and the 'imagination' project kept going on "blinders on" even knowing that an actual SDA or two are right here on the board and could be asked that question instead of having to 'imagine' what they might say in answer to it.

Sadly the one who posted "preferred" to imagine the answer than to read it on the website of the SDA denomination or look up the subject in the Bible or ask an actual SDA on this board. That seems like a pretty sad scenario

Really Bob? How many questions have I asked you and you refuse to give a straight answer or answer at all. Some on this very thread. So we are left with believing what the ex-SDA folks are saying.

    Ex 20:11

Acts 14:15 (which you added to this discussion)
15 and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We are also men of the same nature as you, and preach the gospel to you that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.

That is a curious question... I thought it was obvious in the posts[

The first Angel in Rev 14 - of the 3 Angel's messages says this

6 And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, having an eternal gospel to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people; 7 and he said with a loud voice, “Fear God, and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters.”

And we just looked at this --

    Ex 20:11
11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Acts 14:15 (which you added to this discussion)
15 and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We are also men of the same nature as you, and preach the gospel to you that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.

================ And the third angel - of those three angels in Rev 14 includes this statement

12 Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

So then both of us can easily see that the first angel's message introduces the fact that "the hour of his judgment has come' and points the reader to Exodus 20:11 in the 4th commandment. (One of God's Commandments)

So then not too surprising to either one of us that the third angel's message says this about the saints and the "Commandments of God"

12 Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

take a look at the obvious outline of the chapter of Revelation 14

vs 1-5 a brief summary of the 144,00
vs 6-13 detailed discussion of the 3 angel's warning messages.
vs 14-20 -- reaping of the earth, the saints vs the wicked and the wicked turned over to the wrath of God

    Ends with
and threw them into the great wine press of the wrath of God. 20 And the wine press was trodden outside the city, and blood came out from the wine press, up to the horses’ bridles, for a distance of two hundred miles.

Many people will read the Bible and conclude a simple look at a chapter in the Bible and noticing "details" in it is in fact not
    " a game" .

In this case - this chapter presents the 3 angels as giving the last warning message to the world prior to the wrath of God being poured out.

    Noah did something similar.

Actually you know full well I have answered literally hundreds of questions on this boar if not thousands. What I object to is 'gaming" where a person makes statements that even they don't believe just to run the discussion in a circle.

The post of mine that you quoted about someone here offering to 'imagine for us" what an SDA might say or how they might rewrite this or that part of the Bible - was a reference to someone fairly new to the SDA-on-BaptistBoard discussion that has been offering a lot of emotionalism in their tirades against the Adventist denomination -- as they then tried to avoid Bible details no matter how often they were coaxed into actually looking at the Bible on some specific topic.

I took some time and tried to make the angel's message point to the fourth commandment. It just isn't there in the text. Fear God, Worship God and the distinguishing that this is the God who made the heavens and the earth does not equate to the fourth commandment. God could have very easily have said something, anything about the Sabbath right here if He wanted to be clear which I am sure He always wants to be with His children. He would not want to hide anything from His children. So is there some other Scripture that supports your connecting the angel's message with the Sabbath or fourth commandment? There must be something else, surely you would not make that leap without something solid. It can't just be a feeling or an emotion. What causes you to say the angel is pointing to the Sabbath commandment? It can't be this text.

I have to assume that this happened right after you found out that the upper case letters in your NT text of Acts 14:15 are pointing to Exodus 20:11

As you pointedly "refuse" to quote Rev 14:7
worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters.” Rev 14:7
For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them Ex 20:11
God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them. Acts 14:15

    "And yet"

Acts 14:15 (which you added to this discussion)
15 and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We are also men of the same nature as you, and preach the gospel to you that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.

All of our Bibles show that as a quote of Ex 20:11 -- the very thing you claim you "cannot see". when the same wording is used in Rev 14..

    LOL.. LOL... :)

    Rev 14
6 And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, having an eternal gospel to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people; 7 and he said with a loud voice, “Fear God, and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters.”

    ========================

Love it that these discussions with you get stopped on the first easy point where even you admit you are wrong by contradicting your own "I can't see" statement.

How much time do you have? Ellen White (their prophet) wrote quite a bit (well. . . she plagiarized a lot, but she did it in the name of Jesus, so that's Okay)
